Every year I get frustrated at this time of the year as exactly the same thing happens as the years gone by for exactly the same reason. You can set your watch by it, the mid season grind starts to hit and we hit the wall with a massive crash. Our good players start to go backwards and our average players take the word plod to another level.

My love of the club will always be there but my interest has never been this tested. Sorry for the rant

I feel you. Friday nights game for some reason did something to me and it wasn't even that bad. I usually have the shits for a few hours and then I'm good again, but not this time. I actually think I'm done with the club. It should be fun supporting your club, but it's just pathetic now. I don't think we will ever get any better and I fail to see how we will come close to winning a comp in the next 5 years.
 
Its disappointing that we couldn't snag anyone pre 30 June. Can only put it down to the quality of players on offer vs our current need. Its better not to sign anyone than to sign someone for the sake of it.

Ive got mail from a pretty reliable source that there are 1-2 VERY GOOD signings lined up for 2026... Obviously they can't be discussed publicly, but if true, I am somewhat glad we can "Do a Gus"... Time will tell!

I won't be losing a lot of sleep over kids who've left the club being cheeky on socials.

There's not a lot of wisdom shown by anyone at this age and from what Galvin has shown in the past, it's probably on-brand.

Hopefully these kids, or especially Tallyn, look back at the club for allowing them the opportunity to start afresh somewhere else and not stand in their way.

But I won't be holding my breath.

Richo needs to start recruiting players that are ready to compete and start adding quality depth, they don't need to be stars. Royce Hunt needs to go and now, he has wasted a Top 30 spot for a player that we could rely on to play in our team. We need to add depth to our pack and we need middles that are better defensively.

Also getting a Lachie Ilias, Jack Cole or Schneider organising half to free up Luai is a necessity. Latu Fainu isn't an 80 minute player, he is great for impact off the bench but we need structure and toughness.

Richo can take a leaf out of Ciraldo's book and get numbers in utility players that are going to have a crack rather than trying to get an overpaid gun.

Cannot believe we are only 30 odd points better off in differential than last year.

Hopefully we get another decent signing for next year but the problem might be that others don't want to sign with a losing club especially after losing 2 of your best quality juniors

Somewhat agree with the first paragraph.

I'd be utterly shocked if there is any truth to the second. I'm not even sure if there is 2 "very good" players available to be negotiating with.

correct me if I’m wrong but I think at any stage someone can be signed into NSWcup and placed on a train and trial. I think the deadline apply’s for the NRL squad only inc. supplementary players (dev deals).

I am led to believe they are disgruntled players at other clubs that will become available at the end of the season and couldn't get an early release.. well one of them definitely was..

But yeah it's all gossip in the end until.it happens..trying to hold onto some hope haha

If they obtain a release they will go to the market …just like May did…it doesn’t mean they are automatically signing here

We've actually got one of the better depth charts of juniors aged 16-20yo in most positions.

A few positions of need in pathways we could do with some external recruitment is:
  • Halves
  • Prop
Marc Tannous, Curtis Lakeman & Jhevon Lele are some progressive halves in our ranks. We also have Cohen Benson managed by Enrichd (Richo's son) so I am sure he'll be given every chance. Lele on the flip is managed by Isaac Moses.

Christian Taupau-Moors is highly rated & we have a few other 18yo & 19yo props who have powerful physical attributes such as Leviticus Tovia & Luani Tuifua. But another couple of powerhouses with good engines & leg speed wouldn't go astray especially for the Balmain squads.
