TEAM LIST Round 18 v Roosters

Team List
Laulilli defending in the centres worries me. How was he picked there before Faataape or Naden even? Put Tuitupou on the wing, or is he too big and powerful? Coach Benji is living the Sheens fantasy of picking small young players with potential before their time,

Can Fonua Pole break in to more than a canter? Last game was so frustrating as he appeared to just jog into the defence with zero venom. Just cause Luai is away doesn't mean these guys don't know what they're doing. They're adults and bloody professionals. Last week was a disgrace.

If we play like last week again, it's an easy 50 point hiding, if not worse.
A few years ago against Canberra he decided he would run hard and he nearly inspired a great come back. I honestly haven’t seen him repeat that effort since. Always looks just a little bit less than full throttle to me.

Do we have anyone in our team that gets even close to full throttle ?
I’d say the best we have in this regard are our two youngsters in Luke Laulilli and on occasions Heath Mason.
Charlie Staines and on occasions Turuva would be the only other 2.

Our forwards should compete.

I worry about Luke because the centre is such an important position defensively... Any time we've played someone other than Douhei and toa, we have been torn apart.

Hope just needs to distribute the ball and defend. Leave the attack to Latu and Douhei.

Turuva at fullback is exciting. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a blinder (if he isn't too cocky).

Interesting that at the time we signed Turuva as a centre & Luke killed it at fullback in NSW cup a couple of weeks back.

Imagine how bad the side would be without top shelf recruits like Bird & Hunt. How long are we stuck paying those imitators?

Hunt has another two years. My faith in this clubs ability to manage the roster is running on fumes, but if someone isn’t tapping Hunt on the shoulder, telling him to explore his options in the UK (No one here will touch him), then I’m at a total loss in believing anyone at the club knows what they are doing.

I haven’t seen too many Roosters games this year but when I did their young forwards stood out to me. They are a mob of goers….hungry and tough.
Their backline is class.
She’ll be a wild game for our hodgepodge team.

Foketi and Steep both hit top speed quickly when they run the ball, something our players never do, or has it been coached out of them ?

Benji should've picked Hunt to bully this young Roosters pack. He brutalised their reserve team last week, including a couple of KOs. We need to win the middle convincingly to take their classy outside backs out of the game.
💯
I’m trying to work out what goes through his head when selecting his teams and how he plans to use his bench ?
As you have stated, the Roosters players would have been smiling when they saw Royce Hunt was not in our team list.

Royce has had one good performance in reggies and whole lot of poor ones. I think it's pretty easy to understand why he needs to do more before the coach drops another to accommodate him - whether you agree with it or not.

I’ll be surprised if Dockar-Clay doesn’t start at hooker for Easts.
I saw plenty of young Benaiah Ioelu coming through the Central Coast system and while he’s a talent - he was always a rocks and diamonds type.

Tedesco is our problem but the rest of their spine is vulnerable. Sandon Smith is playing injured and Hugo doesn’t have the usual talent around him.

If we do beat them, it’ll have to be in a grinding game up the middle 🤔
