Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It looks like we now have decent depth all round except for the back row and KPP will help out on that front.
Sukkar was acceptable in defence but if you're playing NRL you really can't be serving up 4 runs for 27 metres in 80 minutes.
If an edge is offering nothing it just gives the opposition too much of a leg up. He really was the invisible man out there.
Other than that our squad really is starting to look good with the pressure that our KOE boys are providing.
What were hos defence stats? In fairness to him I saw him making a lot of tackles, but I could be wrong.

He seems honest as the day is long.

Payne Haas is on 1 million. Just think about that for a second.
Perth Bears have openly stated they will open their cheque book tk sign an elite forward leader, Haas was their number 1 pick, but he looks certain to remain a Bronco, so I’d assume Tino would be their next target.
If we think a Qld based player of Tino’s calibre would even have a 2nd thought about joining us for the same money he would be offered by most of the other NRL clubs, we are dreaming.
Yes we really need a player like him and a similar scenario as when we were looking to sign Jerome Luai, our only chance is to outbid everyone else.

39 with 3 misses at 93%
Like I said, his defence was acceptable, but this is the NRL, both edges have to threaten in attack.
0 tackle breaks with only 12 post contact metres and a horrendous 4.54 seconds to play the ball.
Richo, in his interview said he tried to get a swap deal for KPP and Tallyn, it really is a shame he couldn't pull it off.

Does anyone know when this year's articles about how the mighty West Tigers should relocate are coming out

We have been inundated with articles about Galvin TDS Benji and Richo I was thinking I mite have missed them so I went back had a lot look and there not out yet

It's one of my favourite reads each season and then the discussions about should we move to Perth or join another team

I was hoping for a Adelaide push this year the city of churches would be nice and make a change
Soon

I think that's his role. The back 3 did a lot of work yesterday which took pressure off our forwards.

Sam Fainu by comparison only had 6 runs for 60 odd metres.

Seems 8, 10 and 13 + 1, 2 and 5 were doing the yardage carries yesterday.

The Titans are coming dead last. It's not like you're trying to pull him out of a winning club and need to bid up to pull him outta there.

I'm willing to bet he'll take the same money or less to leave. His price tag alone will exclude plenty of clubs...there won't be a bidding war for him despite his quality for that reason.

Not many teams are going to invest over a million for a lock over a half or fullback.

Bears and us are the only ones that probably have the money in the cap to do it. Bears probably have an advantage in that they are starting from a clean slate cap wise and 3rd party deals in Perth could be very lucrative. If you sit down and do the sums, 1.5 on your lock really throws your cap outta whack...the Titans are probably paying for that a little bit now.

I'd be quite annoyed if we pitched an offer like that to him. I think it would break our cap.

Its been that way all season. We very rarely get much out of 11 and 12, and sometimes 13. Our wingers (Turuva and Skelton) compensate for the lack of go forward of our edges. I don't think its sustainable long term and it does put extra pressure on May/Pole.

Maybe, but maybe also just playing to our strengths.

Not sure I want to see Sukkar take 20 hitups a game at the expense of more effective ball runners.

How many teams have a spare $1m + to spend on a forward?

I would suggest it’s likely out of us , Perth, or he stays at GC…

He could make any of the three moves and it wouldn’t really shock me …

Perhaps Perth is too far and he wants a change of scenery ?

We can only Tristan Hope …

Reinforces a couple of things for me ...

1 The media know that Wests Tigers are the people's team - generate clicks & readership!

2 News Corp has sided with us (you can see it in Buzz's attitude this season & Braith's support for us on 360) whereas Nine Media has a position against us in the media wars.

Also Pepper Money will be happy as the major sponsor!

I actually think this is the modern game. Very few backrowers run for big meters on any team. It's also one of the reason we have improved ed this year we finally have wingers that grind out decent meters.

yeah it’s not coincidence that 9 has a position against us when you understand the amount of influence Moses has on them. i thought it was very interesting benji’s use of the word “agenda” in the presser, it stood out to me out of everything he had to say

The Bears have got to work with the same cap as every other club. 1.5 is Nathan Cleary money. Tino isn't affecting games like Cleary does to be in the same breath as 1.5 million.

Good player, but the truth is forwards always need support from other guys, whereas your half can have way more impact on a game beyond the physical. Swap Cleary with any other half in the Brisbane grand final and put Tino in there at lock/prop, wherever you want, and Penrith lose that game. That's why he's never going to be worth that much % of the salary cap. Titans are overpaying at 1.2 million In my opinion.
So are you saying he will sign for Wests Tigers for 1.2 million per season ?
It would be fantastic if he did, but absolutely no chance.

No I'm not. I don't know what he will do, but my post actually says I think 1.2 million is overs already. The Titans had to pay overs to keep him. He's not going to get overs upon overs.
