Yeah. I want to see a lot more consistent involvement before shelling out 900 a year, regardless of how much the broadcast rights increase. This will get people started, but if $900k or thereabouts is the price and if he doesn't lift his game several levels to justify that price tag then he and Isaac can piss off and we can go to market and look for a proper full back.
Agree with this.......900s is slight overs but he is a great fit for us. Anything more than that is not great for our cap though. We have a lot more to do in terms of building forward depth.I reckon we will pay more the right fit at the club. Benji seems intent on having players who “want to be at the club” and he both values and will reward loyalty. That’s understandable but the question is how much is that worth?
Personally, I think Bula is the fullback that Benji wants and will pay for.
The market will determine his value, supply v demand. The new teams will increase demand for quality players and Bula is a quality player. Placing an arbitrary figure on him is unrealistic. At the end of the day everyone is entitled to their opinion.
If you rate Jahream extremely highly that’s your prerogative, plenty agree with you and quite a few others including myself acknowledge and agree he is a talented player, bur have question marks about his star status.
I don’t think I’ve heard anyone say he’s not a talented player, the question being raised relates to his contract status, will he give us value at 900k come 2027 ?
I’m one of quite a few who do not believe we have a playing roster as it stands for 2026/2027 that is a realistic chance of being a premiership contender.
Some may disagree and be of the belief that our current playing roster, plus a few extra squaddies will be good enough and if that’s your opinion I sincerely hope you are right as I’m 90% certain that is how the club is heading.
Don’t forget it’s very likely we will have to factor in upgrades for players such as Terrell May, Latu Fainu, Sione Fainu and potentially Samuela Fainu, Taylan May and Heamasi Makasini at some stage between now and 2027.
My belief is we need to recruit a genuine elite player to be realistic premiership contenders by 2027.
Obviously it’s a bit late and it’s highly unlikely any elite players will become available for 2026, so our only option for this type of recruitment would have to be for 2027.
Which elite players are currently available for 2027, could potentially add enough value to make us premiership contenders and why would they sign with us.
The elite players that spring to mind are Tino Fa'asuamaleaui and Herbie Farnsworth, but there could be other possibilities.
As unlikely as it may be that either of those two would sign with a club like ours, we do have the attraction of a talented young and emerging playing roster and money talks, so much the same as it was with Jerome Luai, we would have to offer them as much, if not more than any other club to be a chance.
Turbo down all under $ 900 k I would think , Kennedy at sharks I feel you could get for $ 650-700. And is about same level as BulaThats my concern too..he just doesnt put everything into every game
Fullbacks....no particular order,,but the following wld be more desirable
Edwards
Tedesco
Papa
Ponga
Walsh(?)
Mitchell
Turbo(?)
Brimson
Hammer
Gutho(?)
Weekes
Thats just a start...probably missed one or two
$900k is getting into rarified air...Bula hasnt had lift off just yet
Dont get me wrong...as athletic as almost all of them on this list...but ..well..lazy is the only word I can think of
We need more from his talents
You would think being a Sharks local, they would be bringing him back home to them. What about trying to pry Chevy Stewart away from the raiders ? Hewas the next big thing until weekes made the position his own.
I believe Bula is happy here at the Tigers but Isak Turned-Up-Noses wants a new commission - I heard there is a petition circulating to remove this filth from the NRLThe market will determine his value, supply v demand. The new teams will increase demand for quality players and Bula is a quality player. Placing an arbitrary figure on him is unrealistic.
Notice how we finally win a game when Bula's not playing and now y'all want to give him 900k when we win without him. You guys don't make sense at all it's like you're trying to get 7 consecutive wooden spoons.
Just for clarity, a lot of posters justify spending the 900k with "the cap is increasing". The base cap increases 150k next year and the same year after, so it will be 300k more in 2027 (2025 - $11,400,000, 2026 - 11,550,000, 2027 - 11,700,000). Most players would have annual increases factored into their contracts or ratchet clauses that account for the cap increase. So, across a top 30 there is essentially a 5k increase per player per year inline with the salary cap increase no a lot when factoring in a 200k salary increase for a single player.
We are also adding bears and png too which will cost more than their salary cap allocationAre you aware a new Broadcast deal is being negotiated? There are expectations from the League of up to a 50 percent increase … this is what will drive a leap in the salary cap …
This is due to commence by 2028 at the latest …possibly even 2027 if it remains with the same partners
