Latu Fainu #282

Katoa is the best young half in the competition, and Latu IMO is the closest thing to him. Galvin not even in the picture.

Not to say Galvin sucks, rate (but hate) him, but not anywhere as good as the above in the halves.

The game just slows down with Katoa/Latu, in the good way.
Looking at pretty boy Galvin's game now he plays nothing more than a link role and looks to be on the path to play lock.

That's if he hasn't got beanpole syndrome and can put on 10kg of muscle, if he can't well F if I know where he ends up, an average 5/8 boy that will upset the doggies fans and Gussy will be on the nose.

100% a lock
thank gawd we didnt pay a million for him

Braith and the guys on his podcast said Latu looks like he will be a better half than galvin and Gus got the wrong one

interestingly a reason galvin was not happy with the club during pre-seaon was because the team preferred Latu, apparently training better, more committed and suited the combinations more
You can't fool your teammates, especially those who have won premierships or have been at the top echelon clubs.

You got Black at the Broncos, Woods at Dogs with plenty of players in front of them, but willing to bide their time.

How are those clubs convincing them to stay and develop?

Why weren't we able to do that with other players?
I think the issue is identifying winning personality traits rather than winning players . And more importantly players who exhibit the correct behaviours rather than those who were a part of winning cultures .
I’d love to see the storm evaluation for this. They must have a psych evaluation or something that identifies key traits they are looking to employ.
I think we have been too easily baffled in the interview process from guys who “show” these behaviours rather than guys who live it.
The better we get at identifying who’s full of shit , rather than driving standards , the better we will be .
Even the whole concept of the “no dickheads” policy is a form of trying to figure this out , when really there’s been plenty of dickheads who are really good for standards and culture , whether we want to admit it or not .

Yeah, I don’t know about that. Latu came back overweight and they wanted to offer Galvin six figures.

Agreed on Katoa.

It's not really a fair comparison because Latu and Galvin are COMPLETELY different players...

Latu plays his best as a #7. He is better close to the ruck where he can use his explosiveness to find gaps (like an Andrew Johns) but plays his role servicing the other players around him with ball the rest of the time..
Galvin plays like a ball running #6 and is effectively another Luai.

If we didnt sign Luai, we could have been playing #6 Galvin and #7 Latu... and that would have potentially been a deadly combination in the future...

I also don't buy the narrative that it doesn't matter if you have 6 or 7 on your back.. they are very different roles and have been for a long time... Over time this may evolve (as we sawwith inside and outside centres), but the way the game is played now, 6 and 7 are still very different roles imo..

Galvin is not a #7 and this is just a short term plan for the bulldgos. Next year they will absolutely suck if they use Galvin at #7, it just isnt his game. It's like the Tigers trying to move api to #7 when we have injuries. It doesnt work. Doggies are moving toward Galvin #6 and Woods #7.... they are all in on this... Burton wont have a contract past 2027 with the doggies. Ciraldo thinks he's building a dynasty... he's trying to get too smart and i would be suprised if they end up winning nothing under him.

i honestly think galvin’s future is a ball playing lock, I’m not sure he’s even a half

Yeah, I don’t know about that. Latu came back overweight and they wanted to offer Galvin six figures.

Latu was emotionally eating because he wasn't coping to well with his brother being in jail.

So he came back overweight and trained the house down.. The players saw the effort he put in and the whole senior playing group were behind him.. Multiple sources confirm this, not just Braith.

he isn't, not one bit..
bookmark this post and i guarantee you that in 2027 he is playing #6 and Burton is on his way out. It may happen sooner.
Dogs are all in on Woods and Galvin.

Well, the Dogs are cactus then, cos they obviously had visions of him being their long term 7.
no Mitch Woods is their long term #7 and they aren't shy about telling everyone.

talk is that Burton is already aware of their plan and its causing issues inside camp...

doggies arent happy families, no matter how much their cronies try and spin it...

Someone the other day said Burton to Parra next year.

It’s inconceivable that their starting 6, 7 and 9 could all be gone next year after the start they had to the year.
This is why gus was punted from the panthers . He got them near where they needed him to , but his meddling had to be put to pasture .
I can see a similar thing at the dogs , only difference is Gus has a genuinely huge legacy there , much more than the riff . So ir could be a lot harder .
