Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Klemmer was a better option than Twal, let that sink in.
WINNIE I agree with you in respect of A.T! Seems like a great fella and is very good at singing the Team Song after a win (though he hasn't had to exercise his tonsils of late) but seriously he has been part of a threepete Wooden Spoon side. He would a huge success as the Captain of the Wests Magpies NSW CUP side.

Teams like Penrith which grind retain field position and strangle us to a bitter end. Like clockwork they bomb the wingers and pin is back.

I agree with this point in particular ..Ok we all know that Penrith are a pretty damn good and well coached side ( still), but most other teams also are more than happy to grind away up the middle all day when they play us, minimising errors and playing the field position game… they know that provided they don’t beat themselves, they will eventually get on top and win the game …

Until our players get mentally tougher and play for 80 ( won’t happen this season ) I think it’s kinda pointless for WT also choosing to playing this style… although playing another way is probably harder to do…

Fainu … he didn’t play yesterday right ?

Benji wanted to “get into the grind “ with the Panthers last night… how did that work for them 🤔… our boys had 20 minutes only in them playing this way .. why play a game style that suits the opponent ?

Also … any chance they can contest some attacking kicks every once in a while? Most other teams successfully disrupt attacking kicks and get repeat sets inside the opponent 20 .. we don’t even try… the only one all season that attempts this is Bula
The non-competing on the bomb shits me no end. When they actually do it, they get results.

I’m not sure why it’s relevant who is on the other side ? If it was Martin, then 95 percent of the opposition attack would be coming Seyfarth’s way ..so there is that…

Seyfarth has no business being an NRL starter in my view …. I know he does his best but he lacks the physicality…his better games this year have been off the bench , so that’s where I would consider him exclusively

There is no shame in hoping for a better player than Twal to push him out of the 17,,., if he is the first middle reserve he will still end up playing half the games minimum .. Hunt has had a go already and failed … I dont know why there would be an expectation things would be better the next time … seems like deckchairs on the Titanic planning …even last year in a better forward pack he was only playing 10-15 minutes … we need better
You have SHINED TOM with your comments above on Seyfarth! Just like Alex Twal, Seyfarth has been an integral part of the side that has won three Wooden Spoons in a row. I also agree with you on moving Rex Hunt on and sadly it is also bye bye BIRDIE!

The 3 biggest issues we have are our long kicking game, our speed and intensity in attack and defence and our forward impact.

In games where we play with some speed and are getting metres, we look a threat to score. Anyone that has played the game before knows it's a lot harder to break the line when the defence is set and in position.

To sum it up, it's pressure on both sides of the ball and pressure is built by cutting their time to make decisions in attack and defence.

Add our long kicks go straight to the fullback 20m out and they get the first tackle on the 20 or 30 most sets, we lose the field position.

Penrith put on a clinic in how to soak up the first 3 tackles within our 20 by pinning us in the corners on every set and backed it up with line speed in defence. They didn't give us anything all game. As Benji said, they strangled us.

IMO, Twal is at best a benchie. Seyfarth is a reserve grader, Sukkar is not yet NRL standard, Bird is over the hill and useless, Douhie is not a lock.

We need 4 NRL STANDARD forwards.

Toa is too inconsistent
Skelton needs to improve his D.

WE need at least another NRL standard back.

Thats 5 NRL standard players to become a finals team.
YOSHI I agree with your observation. I will add to your enlightened comments the following thoughts:
With the exception of API and the two MAY brothers, I can't name one current Wests Tigers player who would get an appointment with the former great South African Heart Transplant surgeon DR CHRISTIAN BARNARD. The club sadly needs players with mongrel like former legends Magpie Tom Raudonikis, and Tiger Blocker Roach etc.

Well said. Those greats of the game probably wouldn’t get a run under the current Kiwi coaching god !
