Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

They are overpaying but no where near the level of stupidity we had done for about a decade. $550-600 is about his ceiling, but Benji was very vocal at the time to wanting to keep him im sure most are glad he declined.
Just not sure he's nrl standard at 6 or 7
Has no vision and poor decision making skills in attack
The position needs more

Both Skelton and Turuva deserve ALOT of credit for their finishing ability this year.

This is the first time in a long time where i actually have confidence in our wingers capitalising on an overlap close to the line. In years gone by whenever our wingers got the ball close to the line on an overlap, they would get dragged into touch.

Both Turuva and Skelton have been exceptional at getting low, using their strength and balance to make sure they make it to line when given the opportunity this year. Turning half chances into tries.

yep if you get the ball on the sideline , head towards the middle . But both of them could put a few of our forwards to shame on how 2 haul the ball forward

Is there anyone we really want?
Jordan McLean? Siosiua Taukeiaho... Jack H gets mentioned A LOT here and I am kinda surprised Donkeys are holding onto him.

Second row where we really need someone it's slim pickings. jack-gosiewski comes to mind and Surely Broncos have to punt SOMEONE!
we don't want grifters or out side signings. A block busting prop would help , but it really doesn't happen anymore.

Pipe dream I know but not impossible.

Lindsay Smith available to talk to clubs November 1st.

Penrith might feel the pinch of the cap with Cleary, Yeo, Edwards, Tago big contracts and not be able to compete with us.

I would pay him top dollar, he’s an excellent player imo and starting to develop ball playing skills. Could be our prop/13 long term and he fits within the age of the squads development plans next to Terrell. He’ll have a lot of former Penrith boys in his ear too if we offer the cash.

Future origin player, I seriously think he could be a top 5 prop in the game one day.
Fair player, and we need a NRL run on prop.

May, Turuva and Skelton are IMHO the reason why were 11th and not 17th.

May because he has replaced 4 forwards, some even SOO level with himself. We should not be this lucky.

Turuva/Skelton have improved our defense immensily. We stopped being so SO porus on the wings and having shocking easy gaps.

The games where we have lost and it has been a blowout, have been Storm and Panthers. Both games those teams went straight up the middle.

Mate the thing that pops into my head first when you mentioned thoses 3 players is

Yardage

I think Skelton general play in games at times has been average but he gets good carries

I also think out of the 3 of them Skeleton has the biggest room for improvement

He's has not played 25 games of NRL and coming over from rugby I think he needs at least 70 he will be a weapon

And I also think the Bears will come for him if we don't lock him up

What is the latest on Trey Mooney , he would add to our team

He knocked has backed the first time second time Canberra would not release him that was for this season and as far as I know now Canberra has released him to Newcastle for next year

Good player just hope he gets over the injuries

move them on , club/we pick up 1/2 the tab . Sullivan and Bateman still , its not good business , Richo said when he moved in , its normal to have 2 on your books playing for another club . We have rolled over in mostly all our dealings flushing the club . To average top 6
I hate it aswell Merlot, though I can live with it the way Richos doing things now, were bringing in guys that are cheaper that do the same or a better job. Had our position on the ladder stayed the same I'd be dead against it. I can't argue with it while the team is improving and we are climbing the ladder.

Agree - especially re Skelton for his size and strength, he finishes really well.
Also he's only played a handful of games, he's virtually a rookie still. He just needs to improve his mental toughness, maybe it's me, but it seems when he makes a mistake he either recovers straight away and is fine or his confidence falls off a cliff and he has a shocker of a game.

maybe that’s why when they make mistakes they all clap now 😂

Turuva and Skelton have both been good. Both are sadly a bit limited in their ceiling, Turuva for his lack of size and Skelton for his lack of pace. However unlike in years gone by, wing isn't a position of weakness and they're a perfectly capable duo for a finals level team.
