What 2 premiership rings?
He has only played 21 games as a centre.

I reckon if the Bulldogs played Critta at 6 and Burton at 7 (instead of the failed Galvin experiment) they could have won the comp this year.

Critta looks soooooooo damn dangerous when he's drifting across field.. he draws in soooo many more defenders than your average 6 or 7 because of his size.. and he can throw a very strong and fast passes to his outside men once the overlap is created.. h

I can't remember which bulldogs game it was this year, but critta got more involved and basically took on the role as 1st/2nd receiver.. the dogs looked the best in attack they had all year... I was surprised Ciraldo didn't shift gears and give him more of that responsibility

Something that you see often in junior reps that you never see in 1st grade is players playing different roles throughout a game.

I think Crichton is the best defensive centre in the game. He needs to defend at centre. It will also reduce his work load a little being out there. He absolutely should be more involved in attack be it taking on the role of the one and 6, not just for a few plays but the whole game.

We are starting to see centres take on a fullback role in attack during good ball sets. In junior reps however you often see a halfback defend at fullback to protect him from tackling in the front line. You see backrowers defend at centre to shut down and opposition attacking threat. You see centres and wingers constantly swap positions in attack when the centre has more pace whenever an overlap is on. NRL players mostly stick to their lane with very little tactical shuffling and I've never understood why.

He has no premiership rings. His form since returning has been excellent, particularly after so long out of the game. I am happy to say I was wrong as I didn't see it coming, he never played any good for Penrith in the centres previously (yes he had a very good season for them on the wing).
I think he still has some way to go, as well as need to sustain form for more than 7 games, to say he is one of the better centres in the game. He is however certainly tracking to become such.

Playing good in a couple of games when you’ve come in late playing against guys who are battling injuries etc doesn’t make you one of the best in the comp. It takes more than that.
Do it for 24 rounds next year and then such claims hold proper weight.

But given he didn’t have a pre-season his impact was impressive. Agree that he needs to do it next season but his ceiling looks to be very high.

Especially when he was still pretty explosive playing at 100kg for us, having said that he normally plays at 95kg. If Taylan can carry that weight through the pre-season, he will be a proper unit with improved fitness at that size.

Who is saying anything negative about him?
I’m commenting on our fans over rating our players once again.
He has come back well. That needs to be expanded upon next year.
 
Taylan rejected a 3 year deal for a shorter deal. He backed himself. Respect. To slot back into first grade after 18 months away from the game in arguably one of the toughest positions is remarkable. With his brother at the club and Benji being family orientated, he has a great support network.

Not gonna lie, when the Mad Monday thread was being bumped, I expected the worse.

Hope mentally with treatment he is in a better headspace thats more important then football.

Ah ok well hopefully the stars align and the mays and fainus are locked up long term end of 2027 is when mays are off contract they will be in the peak of their careers we can't keep losing our best players
