Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Re: Bula, whilst he isn’t the best fullback in the game right now he is still an extremely talented player and the best fullback we have had at this club since Tedesco.
After watching Walsh’s performance over the last couple of months and the gf I’m left thinking is Bula ever going to get to that same level? Walsh is possibly the 2nd best fullback the Broncos have ever had. But since Darius Boyd retired the Broncos had played Issako, Niu, Martin prior to Walsh joining in 23.
The questions I ask; Is Bula in the same class as Walsh? I don’t think so unfortunately.
Is he a better fullback than Issako, Niu and Martin? Most definitely, resigning him would be ensuring we have consistency there.
As others have said, it’s highly unlikely Bula will get Walsh’s level. Is May going to get to Haas’s level? It’s the wrong question to ask.

If Walsh was off contract now he’d easily get $1.5M and probably more. Bula would get about half of that but that doesn’t mean he’s not the best option for us.

Are we a chance to get Walsh? No.

Is there a better option around Bula’s price? I’d say no.

Take Bula out of our side and what pace do we have, not much, get an extension done Richo.

100% he is critical to our team, we don't win much without him. My original question was not should we sign him, but how is Richo playing this one out to get his preferred outcome. You would think it should have been put to bed by now, and the longer it drags on the more I begin to wonder if there is another team involved and muddying the waters.

sharks just re-signed kennedy, so really the only clubs you would think are after a fullback is bears obvy and dogs…😬

He probably has to tread carefully remember he's dealing with a spitting cobra of a manager.

To me Bula is the most important player in our team... you instantly notice when he's missing & instantly notice when he's playing. I thought he improved a lot this year which is impressive considering he spent a lot of pre season last year rehabbing his shoulder. I think with a injury free pre season he'll take the next step & become an elite fullback & hopefully we have him locked up before then.

The biggest thing having aging players on the bench allows is for young players to push through and claim thier spot . Guys like Kit , and the prop we signed from the raiders along with really young players Like Tapau Moors or any other jersey flegg prop, can now push through in the hope they can supplant one of those 3 .
That’s really , really a big call to make when you’ve got 28/29 year olds riding the pine on 300-400k , and not performing. As a business the lack of value in that model is there for all to see . Which unfortunately has been how we’ve conducted business for the longest time .
The real levelling up needs to come from guys 21-23 years old . They need to push through next year. The more pressure on those bench roles should lead to a performance lift.
Rising tides lifts all ships .
Am thinking there are 2 different roles ,which do indeed overlap....
As 14 to 17 players, its big ..aggressive ..go forward guys who we buy for impact...like Brown...age doesnt particularly matter tbh..we just need 3 steamrollers plus a utility on our bench in an injury free world
Weve gotta balance that with starting players in the inevitable event of injuries as the season progresses ...some of these big impact guys(eg Royce)just cant start,so our young blokes will have plenty of opportunities as the season progresses and if they demonstrate potential they move up
Its a balance..and atm were lack impact of the bench

no one will say it because they’re too scarred by what transpired later in the game, but the best we looked all year was the first half against the Titans on the Gold Coast. I don’t need to tell you who the 7 was that night and how we fell off a cliff when he came off injured.

we can’t put Doueihi through four months of preparing to play at lock to then throw him in at 7 to start the year. it doesn’t help anyone. Jock Madden was signed to be the backup half, use him as such.
AD is a no brainer for 7.I hope Benji can see the blatent obvious, surely?
Latu is clearly next in line.
Madden is a reserve for reserve...not quite sure why we bought him tbh,as at 27 hes a proven reserve grader and no more ..we need to be moving UP and forward

You got a.link for.that?
Post makes no sense.
They were in the squad
You saying they pledge allegiance to Fiji ahead of Samoa/Tonga (unsure) and now they been dropped?
yeah it’s weird. they were in the squad, but not in the final one. wouldn’t of been dropped judging by who’s been selected. latu had already played for tonga, so maybe a change of heart???

People complaining about our attack ....if our defence could keep sides to 22 to 24 ppg ....how many extra wins do we get

Benji needs to concentrate much of his time in the off season on our Defence
It’s very hard to see much improvement in our defence with the players we currently have as we don’t have enough of those high energy, high effort players that lead the way in defence.

So is hopefully winning 48 to 46 the answer .....or is maybe the Ciraldo way of working as a defensive unit and putting some pride in your tryline
