** News Flash ** We are zero chance of signing Payne Haas, Joe Tapine, Addin Fonua-Blake, James Fisher-Harris or Moses Leota to ensure our middles are so dominant they can help make our well below average backline look good.
** Aside from the elite middle forwards named above, enlighten me as to what other middle forward we could possibly recruit to help us achieve this ?

On Jaxon Purdue has been offered a contract from the Cowboys and is testing the market - seems perfectly acceptable when players from other teams do it - the role of managers. Pretty sure the Cowboys will be doing their best to retain him too and may have to pay more than they wanted to .

If we can sign him for $800,000 a season, just remember the cap goes up each year so , $800 in two years would be like $700 then

Any new contract now means IM gets his percentage, maybe the way to go is to activate the clause in his contract before Nov 1 , think that ties him down for two seasons at $800 k and $900 k, hopefully buys us time to look around and also avoid another Galvingate scenario this season, another thing is IM gets nil commission if the option is taken up

Beginning to wonder if Bula's not the sharpest tool in the shed Winston or should I say Donald 😯.
Hodgo's been there all season we have all seen how good he was for us on his day surely there's been some individual training going on.

Is it going in one ear and out the other.

Bula has been our fullback for 3 seasons now. Hodgo in his ear for 3 seasons.
Every year we see some small improvement in attack; but IMO his overall game has plateaued.
No plan of his own to extend his natural speed with kicks, cut out passes, try assist for others to score.
Walsh from same age and background has so many more options in his game other than the occasional chime into the backline.
Hunger for the ball. Explore other options. Don't think coaches can instill that, it comes from within.
Unless he takes it upon himself to try something different, we will not see anything different.

No he hasn't. Kicking off the cuff for yourself when there is space is not the same as taking the ball to the line and finding a kick for a repeat set with pressure in your face and defenders in position. Nor has he shown any long kicking game, ever.
Perhaps he has it in him to develop one. But he has not demonstrated it as of yet.

Our current Wests Tigers playing roster does not possess anywhere near the attacking flair that our Premiership winning 2005 team possessed.
Player for player our forwards stack up quite well with that team, but our attacking flair and x-factor is well behind.
If you honestly believe there is a remote chance we can win a Premiership within the next couple of years largely based on our current playing roster, than I sincerely hope you are correct, but I cannot see it.
As I have previously pointed out the chances of us recruiting to dramatically improve our middles is close to zero, so my logic is we have no choice other than to try and upgrade our backline.
If you and others don’t see it that way that is fine, time will tell.

I didn’t say I think he will get 1.2 million, my prediction is he will either re-sign with the Cowboys or sign elsewhere for 900k - 1 million per season from 2027 onwards which I assume is very close to the same contract value Jahream and Isaac are looking for ?
What I’ve stated which again is only my opinion and neither correct or incorrect at this stage, is that I believe Jaxon Purdue has the attributes and skill set to allow him to become an elite fullback and quite a few highly regarded rugby league identities have also stated this, so it’s not just my own opinion.
Quite obviously a young man from Central Queensland would not likely choose to sign with Wests Tigers ahead of plenty of other interested NRL clubs unless the offer was higher than the others, hence why I suggested I would offer as high as 1.2 million to land him.
Obviously we have many fans on this forum who think that is crazy and believe Jahream is the better fullback.
That’s no problem and if Jahream remains a Wests Tigers player long term I hope that opinion proves to be correct.

Weve got.to make the eight/ top 4 ...regularly...before we can think of premierships. From there on the 4.weeks at seasons end is a whole.new comp...we wont walk in and win the whole thing like.05...we will need to learn to win finals games.

Jahream needs to bulk up a bit through the thighs and hips, his step gets him between players however they bring him down with the slightest contact. If he can build up this strength he will be a freak in attack......it will also help him with his one-on-one defence...he tends to get bent backwards in defence, more strength will allow him to hold more in impact.

Bula is much quicker than Edwards, he also has a much better leap and more of an attacking threat under the high ball.
Edward’s strength has always been his competitiveness, aggressive style of play and his physicality particularly when running the ball.
I know what you are saying and its true that Edwards was nothing special during his first 3 seasons of playing NRL, but they have very different playing styles, so hard to compare them,

Edwards was super quick at the beginning had a few hamstring problems and never passed the ball the thing I love about Edwards is he is always in the game always competing

If Bula could compete like Edwards that would be amazing

It's also a factor of the disjointed way we have played in attack. He, and most of the team played well at the beginning of the year when we had our preseason halves combination on the field. He was also recovering from an injury so limited training. Then it all went to crap mid way through the season when a spoilt brat left, only to pick up again towards the end before AD went down....fingers crossed we get a solid pre season and a less disruptive season....we only have 2 new faces added to the starting first grade team in Taylan and KPP this preseason, (not spine players) so we should be much more balanced heading into game 1.

That’s easier said than done as quite often if slightly built people bulk up too much they lose their speed.
Not that he was ever what you would call slightly built, but Heath Mason certainly appears to have lost some of his speed due to bulking up and it has been to his detriment while playing in the backs, hence the reason I thought there must have been plans to try and evolve him into a number 9 and utility.

He would get no criticism from me if he started getting into 1st or 2nd receiver much more often, being a ball hog and taking on middle defenders.

Not having a go at you, but have read so many posts about Moses supposedly not receiving a percentage if either the club or Jahream take up these options.

It is a bit like players salaries, of which generally none of us know anything more than unsubstantiated reports or make reasonable assumptions. I also expect that none of us know any details of their agreement, nor the separation one from his previous management.

The current agreement could include a percentage or some level of payment, but I am happy for yourself or anyone who truly knows to tell me otherwise?

I wouldn’t blame Hodgo’s inability to coach on Bula.
The only reason he’s coaching in NRL is Bcoz he played with Benji.
