Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Indefinitely. Because If I'm Richo I'm talking to other fullbacks not sitting on my hands hoping Bula makes a decision. But until one is signed im continuing to show interest in Bula as well.

Also I wouldn't include Luai in this. He has zero reason to remove his clauses. He has said and done all the right things to suggest he will remain at the club but it would be foolish of him to remove the clauses.
Regarding Luai you would think and hope that’s the case, as you say based on what he has publically stated.
But it makes you wonder what he’s waiting for ?
Could he be waiting to see if he gets MOTM in the Pacific Nations final then potentially hit us up for a pay rise?

My confidence in his fitness isn’t very high. Some players just don’t have to the body. He’s still young though, so has time to overcome those issues. I’m not big on AD at 7. I know he was our best late in the season, but his future is at 13 imo. Good fill in at 7, but not a first choice.
Probably will get to look into the crystal ball when Doueihi completes the off season if he's been hitting the weights we will know what position he's headed for.

Elite players would not be interested if we offer more than anyone else ?
People are quick to forget Luai only signed with us because we offered him more than anyone else.
You can say and think what you like, but neither player is putting the club first if they do not sign to extend with us by the end of this week.

Luai did say in his press announcement that the Bulldogs offered him more. He has also said multiple times he wants to turn things around.

What he has done recruiting and behind the scenes wise isn’t a sign of a player just here for a pay check. Yes he needs to win us more games & be a bigger difference maker. But he hasn’t acted like someone collecting a pay check - and we have had many of those over the last 20yrs.

So you’re wrong again.

pretty obvious it’s a safeguard if benji gets sacked and the club goes back to being a basket case.

Until he removes the get out clause and doesn’t expect us to pay him anymore than what his current contract stipulates, I am neither right or wrong.
What is he waiting for ?

Mind blowing stuff...

Players stats improve when they play for two of the best sides in the comp... Yet they aren't quite as great when they play at a club who's had 3 back to back spoons with the worst adminstration in the comp.

Who would have thought?
Some conveniently ignore this

He is likely waiting until Nov 1 to officially negotiate with Perth Bears

That’s my theory. They are the barometer. A new club, who didn’t attract any stars their first year. And they are in much more convenient location and they had one of the greatest coaches of all time at the helm. The Bears have a lot less going for them. They already look like being turned down by Tino and Munster. There’s two marquee players right off the bat. I think they will field a team of middle of the road first graders. Not many out and out stars.

I don't think for a second he would be expecting to get a pay rise from us, regardless of what happens between now and round 10 (I think the deadline is, just from memory. Could be way off).

There could be plenty of other stuff happen between now and then that I could see resulting in him abandoning ship. Why would you not wait as insurance against that?

Let's paint a totally unrealistic worst case scenario. Luai struggling for form, 10 straight losses, Marshall fired, Richo died of a heart attack, Latu perennially injured, Pole still struggling, Hunt reaches 130kg, Terrell injured long term, Taylan jailed long term, club struggling financially with media reports questioning if we can afford to pay players.

All Luai had to do was wait a few months and he could have avoided being tied to that for another year. In what situation is signing early the better option for him?

It is so unreasonable to expect him to do so that if he did, sure, most of me would think heck yeah thats the commitment we want from a leader but a part of me would go is this bloke stupid? And he is supposed to be a leader here?
