Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

A lot of noise going around that Keon is every chance of leaving the Rabbits.

Parra and Dragons are both interested. Unsure on us as a club but given the history of Keon with both Benji and Richo wouldn’t be surprised at all if we’ve picked up the phone.

He completes the puzzle for us as a football team imo and we have plenty of cap space to afford Keon and then some so can’t see why people would be against it.

1. Jahream Bula
2. Sunia Turuva
3. Taylan May
4. Haemasi Makasini
5. Jeral Skelton
6. Jarome Luai
7. Latu Fainu
8. Terrell May
9. Api Korisau
10. Keon Kelomatangi
11. Samuela Fainu
12. Kai Pearce Paul
13. Adam Doueihi

Looks like a top 8 side to me.
Get it done Richo!!!

he'd be incredible but I'm not sure we have the cap space. the likes of Perth, Easts and Parramatta will have more to give than us. as you say though the connection with Richardson and Marshall might get us a seat at the table.

Liam Henry would be the one for mine though. ticks every box.

No one is against it teddy, just some me included are balking at the 900k asking price, it reeks of chasing the money mentality which hasn't worked out well for us in the past.

750k with a team first attitude and I will personally roll out the red carpet at the COE.

Getting it in round 1 is when you don't really need it. You're not recovering from
an NRL match ( like you would be in rd 2 or 3 ). I'm sure the players and staff would prefer
the bye after any NRL match rather than in rd 1. The first rd generally teams are blowing the cobwebs
out, gain match conditioning and getting combo's going which can start off clunky. I'd prefer to
play one of the TOP teams, hope to catch them off guard and/or get them out of the way early. Sets
the standards. I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks like that. The only benefit for a bye in
rd 1 is the obvious 2 points that everyone gets eventually.
Didn't make much of a difference last year - beat Parramatta ( in fact quite well) who'd played in the first round, won R3 also quite well against the Dolphins that had played 2 matches in a row. That sort of disproves that argument.

Huh ? We played in Round 1 last year ? 😂… lost to Newcastle

When we had the bye in Round 1 2024 we got carved by Canberra Week 2… but then won the next two

I think he would be an amazing get and if possible 800K on the cap and 100K TPA

I have no problem with him getting 800K on the cap he knows his worth

Agree. For clubs like ours, we really have to play a money ball type strategy with the salary cap as we don't have the lure YET of the more successful clubs for external players.

Keaon is at the peak of his powers so we'd be paying maximum value for him to get him here.

Good strategy would be to identify the middle with upside who we could go hard for whilst other clubs battle for Keaon. As @jrtiger suggested, Liam Henry would be a great one and imo offers more than what Pole has delivered thus far.

Glad you can see the downside from a club perspective as I do mate.

I think Richo wouldn't fall for an inflated price tag it could just cause problems from bending the cap to possible player unrest.
He's a good forward but he's not at that high price tag yet.

You've lost me. We played the knights rd 1 this year, were dreadful and lost. That game was on
a platter for us. They were terrible also but got the away win.
Having that hit out/loss helped us win against the Eels and phins IMO.
As I said, I'd prefer us play the top teams first up. Playing lower teams like the knights first up isn't
great either as they're likely at full strength rd 1. The bye in rd 1 is a delay in getting the season going,
when Vegas is like a week before the rest of rd 1.
Either way, it is what it is.

I can't find anywhere this is reported apart from a few on here claiming as such and the rest of the forum taking it as fact.
Media reported it when the signing was being done, can that be trusted well I'll leave that up to your judgement but what else is there to go off the club isn't going to advertise it, loose lipped friends our player agents probably the source.
