Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

They never had him at $650..they had him signed another two years at 400-450k… what Parra paid him when the Tigers said see you later is irrelevant…

it’s his career .,he is entitled to do what he wants… if he wanted to move on in two years because he wasn’t the No 1 then so be it …players make those kinds of decisions all the time…very few want to continue to “bide their time” after being an understudy for 4 years …maybe be is a quick learner and he thought Api showed him all he needed in that time ..

I’m interested to see how things play out with the fan base if he goes onto be a good player … Im betting the reality that the Tigers decided to keep Api and let him go morphs into that he never wanted to stay and forced his way out ..
He didn't have 2 years left on his contract it was up end of 26 so true, one year left at 400k but what did he want 27 onwards, he obviously wanted a lot more than that and is probably another reason the club balked.

That was the 650k I was referring to was probably what he was asking for to stay 27 onwards, as it turns out now at Parra he's getting that money, is he worth that I'll leave that to personal forum opinions.

The glimpses we've seen from him suggest there's a player there, but it could take years to become a long minutes hooker to justify good money.

But really who cares we are one eyed Tigers supporters and he left, we are allowed to be browned off that he didn't want to stay, just like all 17 clubs that lose a player with potential.

Ok …I thought he was signed two more years rather than one .. still doesn’t change everything else I said ,,

I doubt they even talked money about his next deal …what would be the point ? He wasn’t staying as they were keeping Api right as the number 1.

In regards to your comment that he “didn’t want to stay”… have a look at the comments Marshall said about him ..

you gotta feel for Ryley Smith he’s on min wage playing most of the hooker minutes. I wouldn’t be surprised if he agitates for a release
Ryley Smith is as tough and tenacious as you can get for a young number 9.
Maybe we should return the favour and give him a better deal than what he is currently getting.

SO TDS moved to the Eels to play the EXACT same role he would've played here, bench hooker, ....Doesn't sound like a player who wanted to stay!.

Can you elaborate V?
Yes I can.
Jerome Hughes was a fullback playing Qld Cup before being transitioned to a halfback to replace Cooper Cronk.
He was far from a traditional on the ball controlling 7 but more than made up for it with his brilliant running game.
With time and confidence he has improved his talk/onfield leadership, his kicking game and ability to play with structure and control when required.
I think Latu’s running game is potentially very similar to Jerome’s

That article to me looks like Benji trying to hose down the flames in the media which he has been proven to do very well, he's had a lot of practise at it recently.

Mate we could debate all day about it the facts are, did he want to stay/he didn't want to stay, what happened in the end is he left.

Just another one to add to the list !

Young players with big egos.
It’s better than young players that lack confidence, but if the egos cannot be controlled it’s no good for a team environment.
The best thing about all 3 Fainu brothers, they probably think they are the cream of the crop, but they never let it come across that way.

How do you know hes content?
He doesnt have a choice
Sorry I should’ve said he seems content and no he doesn’t have a choice. I was just expressing the opinion that he went from biding his time behind Api here only to end up in the exact same position at Parramatta.

Some people on here were saying that he was agitating for a release because he was stuck behind Api and wanted a starting spot, but I was expressing the view that he simply didn’t want to be at the club anymore and he does seem to be happier for the move.

I wonder if he is just putting on a brave face...sucking it up...as. you say hes in.pretty much the same.position...maybe even.more difficult for him...Smith would have a lot more improvement in him than Api

I wonder if the peroxide.do is a salute to Api or maybe hes stuffed up and.its a punishment
