HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

I'm surprised the Daily Tele hasn't published a story yet. Usually if the rival masthead SMH publishes a big story, they are quick to do the same. Can only hope Brent Read has an exclusive & positive story!
Richo would be holding his cards very close to his chest rn, if anything positive is gonna come out it’ll be from PVD’s actions leading to richos return

Do the NRL have any power to act in this case?
I don't want this post to come across pro HBG in any way simply asking the question.
The NRL didn't appoint the 'independent' board, HBG did. They did so to manage their interests. If they aren't happy they have every right to move that board on.

I believe when the NRL has stepped in in the past is only when clubs have gone into voluntary administration due to not meeting their financial commitments. This is not the case here. So, do the NRL actually have any power to intervene?
Agree. HBG get away with it. IMO The only way NRL step in is when the reputational damage starts to effect the brand. We aren't there yet. Maybe empty stadiums, player and sponsor walkouts would move things along a bit?

This is satire, right?

And, just so you know, I wasn't the mod who put you on a 48hr ban. Please stop implying that I have some vendetta against you. Please stop following my posts. Honestly, it's weird.
Yeh, I suppose the 1st couple of paragraphs are satire, but only in the sense of using humour which has a slightly sharp edge to it.
And I am really pleased that you weren't the Mod. who put me on another 48-hour ban.
I have a slight suspicion about who that may be and why, and I feel it's very unfair.

Now, my apology to you re a vendetta.

I can certainly understand why you feel it's weird on my part.
I definitely wasn't looking for one of your posts for an opportunity to reply in any sort of nefarious way, and you'll have to forgive for being a bit delinquent in the grey matter area, and that's not just a case of rapidly advancing years by the way, I've been that way since I was 1 day old 😱...but I don't understand what you mean by please stop following my posts.
I just happened to be scrolling through posts trying to catch up after spending the prev. 2 days in the bin when I noticed your post and realised it was one that had a subject I wanted to reply to, and I would have replied even if it was a post by tom, dick or harry.
None of the post was directed at you personally but I can understand why you thought it appeared as if it was.

Now to the bit about asking a question on behalf of a friend...he was definitely using hard edged satire.

I know all you Mods. must be tremendously weary from the time you are giving from the goodness of your heart, to handle what must be an absolute avalanche of posts, so please enjoy having a big frothy schooner when things settle down.
And just in case I am suspended again, I had better take this opportunity to wish everyone....a🎄very🤶happy🎄Christmas🎅.

As sad as this situation has become, if you’re playing pokies at Ashfield or buying a membership then you’re part of the problem. It’s such a shame that good people have to do this stuff to get some action Joel.
Unless someone goes full "the whitlams" those pokies will continue to be played. Don't think the clientele know or care who Benji Marshall is unfortunately

Yeah even then, if HBG are paying their bills I still expect nothing from the NRL.

I think where change could/needs to be made is at board level of HBG. It's seems the current HBG is the problem. But those board members aren't the actual owners, they are elected/appointed to the board. Empty stadiums/loss of sponsorship etc might see members to vote for change on the HBG board. Then we can only hope their replacements have an idea.

I'm assuming they would as the article stated yesterday Vlandys was considering appointing an N.R.L administrator, if there were no grounds he wouldn't be able to consider it, I believe there were also breaches by HBG with the way the directors were stood down according to an article posted a few days ago, though I think the only ones who could pursue that would be the directors themselves in the courts which would be costly for a voluntary position which they prob wouldn't do. Who cares though, HBG do whatever they want when they want with their play thing, why bother with the rules. Do whatever needs to be done to get it done.

We can't just wait for the season to start to boycott attending games, we need the rally to be big, but in the meantime:
