Adam Doueihi #227

I'm happy for the bloke but he is one nasty hip drop tackle away from a career ending injury. I expect he has received a bit of an updrade, potentially Jack Bird's salary, which i had heard (WTF podcast i think) was going to Bula. I think Bula is as good as gone if that's the case.

this is amazing for Adam. he did two ACLs in his first four years at the club and battled thru that adversity to play across the park for us last year wherever he was needed. his defensive attitude cleaned up immensely and when he got the opportunity to play 7, he took it with both hands.

no one, Adam included, would've thought that a deal taking him til he was 31 was possible a little while ago. look at him now.

congratulations to AD. hopefully a win to celebrate tomorrow.

Loyalty and hard work do have their rewards, Onya AD, kick ass tomorrow and all season.

I think its a great sign for us especially too as Isaac Moses is Adam's manager. Come on boys get THE DREAM re-signed.

Black White & Gold WILL NEVER FOLD !!!
I was told AD was managed by Moses,

Apparently not. He was Pimp'd by Moses to several clubs and had there been takers, he would become an IM client.

... I don't get this.
was 350k a season too cheap?
Are we playing AD at fullback?

Very unsure why 4 years now, so soon after the last contract.

What do we think this means for Fainu 🤔 although he's a bit made of glass ATM

Maybe someone is finally ready to call it for what it is?
3rd season here and he's played a handful of games (Mostly off the bench, or didn't finish them)
he was injured for a season before he came and he's injured again now.

I don't mind keeping him around, But he needs a haircut on that Salary.

Can anyone answer why we would be extending him now? Why not wait a couple of months and see how he's performing?

Rewarding players with extensions without them earning it is what continually screws up our top 30.

Everyone must earn their contract.

What if after one month Madden is our halfback and AD is our extended bench backup?

A few comments here and there make me think that the role is there for Latu if he can prove himself.

Jarome mentioned in one of his interviews that benji has had chats with douheis future plan at 7 and maybe some other positions including lock (i am paraphrasing that on memory).

Cant fault benji for is his man management. He obviously has these guys all on deck and buying in.. which makes it a little more disappointing that the bula situation hasnt been resovled.

I know there are counter arguments to this, but I think it's pretty clear from re-signings like Twal's and Doueihi's that the club is trying to establish a strong sense of stability in the team to entice others to re-sign. There are a lot of guys coming off contract soon and getting these blokes done early sends a message that says hey, we're not going to reshuffle the deck chairs here, the blokes you've been building something with are the blokes you're going to keep building with, so buy in. They're both well-liked, both integral to the team, and respectfully, both pretty low-hanging fruit when it comes to re-signings. I'm hoping it leads to more.

Yeah, Latu is concerning especially if this season is plagued with injury again, is he going to be one of those players that spends most of his career in rehab.

Then what is the club to do, they have his brothers to keep happy this can be the drawback, but you can't overpay for a player that's hardly on the park.

Probably just that BB, a reward and also as a message to the club about the culture they're building with the likes of leaders Twal, AD, Luai, Api, Sione etc in for the long haul. Plus there is a long-term player discount in the salary cap, can't remember the specifics.

Seems like SM has promised answers to fans. Maybe ask him how these decisions are made now.

BWG and I were discussing AD's role over in the Wests Tigers Faithful thread. Now that AD has been extended and given what Benji has stated about Latu being our long term 7 you have to think about what role he plays and how that translates into the Wests Tigers style of play.

I really think we missed a trick in not converting him into a 13 over the off season, but better footy brains that mine have the clipboard but we have to assume that his future lies in that jumper. I don't see him as a Yeo style 13 either. I see his optimal role as being a runner, secondary playmaker, or link rather than the primary organiser; almost a third half. A big third half that shares the kicking duties plays in and out of first receiver and provides a running threat.

BWG raised his ability to hold is own in the middle as a potential issue - and it certainly is right now. However, he could be eased into the system on a rotation with Twall until he transitions into an 80 minute 13 in 2027 after an offseason developing his body for the new role. Not sure what you would classify him as; a hybrid 13 or a hybrid 7.

It will be interesting to see how it pans out over the season and what role he plays as Latu is eased back into the squad.
