If you are purely going of stats, Api misses more tackles than anybody.
Stats are a guide but do not tell the full story.
In regards to Heath Mason, he no doubt needs to work hard on his lateral defence, but he is a very strong front on defender.
That and many other parts of his game make me think he could make a very good positional change to hooker if he puts his mind to it and embraces it.
While on the topic of missed tackles, there are certain players who hide and don’t even attempt to make a tackle at times, that’s far worse than an attempted missed tackle.

Based on 2025 data

Api
Tackles made: 854
Tackles missed: 100
He missed a tackle every 8.54 attempts

Heath
Tackles made: 90
Tackles missed: 27
He missed a tackle every 3.3 attempts...

This doesnt even consider that Api was in the middle the whole time whilst Heath had the advantage of playing fullback and five eighth in his games.

I like mason, but let's not pretend hes something he isn't. He might grow into a regular NRL player one day, but hes miles off the standard we require if we want to make a play for the top 8.

Well son, I’ve supported these useless arseholes in one form or another since ‘84 so of course I do.
Nice to see the kids get all lippy about support though 👍🏼

The Tigers lack leadership, ohhhhh yum, NRL stats says Api missed 150 tackles more than our wingers have therefore he's 150 times worse at tackling than Turuva... hospital pass me the ketchup.... man we are starving and its only January.... get them eggs ready sheeple...

I don't Tucker is negative enough. I don't think this forum is going to make it unless we unleash his full majestic power. I'm trying to summon it, especially while its January and before all the soft fans who only talk about footy during the season make their predictable and pathetic return to this place.

he might be playing 13 by round 3 if madden keeps playing well
we might be calling Doueihi, Alfred when he is stuck in the bat cave
 
Would not be surprised to see Jock get a run in Fridays trial in the second half hopefully Ivan will need to keep most of the 1st grade squad on the park to get minutes in their legs and we get the opportunity to see how he goes against stiffer opposition.

If he's not named well that will probably point to Adam having a mortgage on the 7 unless he has a stinker.
