LIVE GAME Round 13 v Bulldogs

Live Game Discussion
Didn’t we loose a game for Papalii charge down made contact with the leg, shot missed and they got a penalty right in front?

I don’t like it - but every other kicker in the game gets a piggy back off it, so I have no problem getting the rub for once.

Moses has almost made a career off it
Its not the rub, its a pretty black and white rule....whilst i dont agree, especially if its incidental thems the rules. If they didnt score than they get away with it...ref should have noticed it immediately and called a penalty, instead he gives a try.

He was correct on that I reckon and Benji agreed.
It is a ridiculous rule that you can perform a charge down and then run into the still raised leg and be penalised.
Luai also had zero problem with it as he didn’t remonstrate at all and chased him all the way to the line.
Not surprised to see you sook about it though lol….very predictable.
The charge down was a poor call. And the try following- Turuva was marginal at best to onside.

Galvin never scored. And the ref just points to the spot. And the bunker just goes along with it. That was pathetic. It wasn't a 50/50 call. It was just wrong. Creighton's try should have gone up to the bunker immediately instead of being ruled a try. It was, at best, 50/50 on him scoring.

Tupouniua's hit on Makasini, given Ponga's send off a few days earlier, should have at MINIMUM been a penalty. Probably a sin bin. He should get charged. But that decision was made ludicrous later when Twal forced the ball free on a far more legal hit, but got penalised for a shoulder charge. And in the conversation of 'game changing decisions'- the turn over, inside the Bulldogs 10, with the game in the balance, was huge.

I'll say it again. This was a big game- the way it played out. The intensity, the closeness.

It was too big for the referee & his team & it showed repeatedly- causing what SHOULD be celebrated as a tough fought win into a discussion of which side got the better calls from the officials.

All that said. Starford Toa & Jerome Luai/Latu Fainu's tackles in the late goal line stand were the best part of the game. (Maybe add Terrell May's late run to get the Tigers out of field position drama as well where he carried 3 or 4 guys 15 metres post contact). Tigers play hard now. That's the take.

Set restarts in other games

WT v Dogs 0-7
Newcastle v Parra 3 all
Cronulla v Manly 8-6
Cows v Souths 4-3
Manly v GC 5-5
St G v NZ 2-0
Dogs v Melb 3-0
Raiders v Dolphins 5-6

So yeah pretty unprecedented tonight and Dogs are 10-0 in the last two games.
That’s one every 12 minutes yet the dogs not once the entire game infringed on the 6 again violations, in a game that has become of a bunch of blokes trying to push the limits for 80mins.

That was one of the worst refereed games Ive seen in a while.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, bad calls go both ways- but the way a ref can be absolute about Galvin scoring, and Creighton scoring, the way he was- given what was CLEARLY questionable circumstances on both- could lead people to suspecting a bias.

The high shot on Makasini, given the events of the week, and ALSO the penalty against Twal later in the game, is highly questionable too.

The game was too big for the referee. He was nearly as bad as the woman ref a couple of years back that lost control after 3 minutes of game time. Not Kasey Badger- the other one (name escapes me).

I'd have allowed Curran's try.
In the past bad calls could be worked through by the receiving team. In the game today with the stupid 6 again bad calls compound into fatigue that teams cant overcome.

For all the crap he cops here, toa made a try saving tackle that probably stopped the game going to extra time.

Probably … I made mention earlier in his own thread for prosperity…best thing he has done for a while …

As Alan Jones used to say though,,. “One swallow doesn’t make a summer “..

Pretty much how I view it. Soft rule but it's consistently ruled the same way.

Yep the truth is, that despite pretty terrible defence tonight, our guys made more of the tackles that counted than they did.
The game came down to a handful of really good desperate tackles. That’s the way she goes sometimes.

Yes we did and that’s what I’m saying. It’s a poor rule.
Spot on. I see absolutly no problem with halves getting manhandled by opposition forwards. If they want to run at the line they have to be willing to pay the price. I have no problem with what Curren did. Its not too difficult to see when someone deliberatly dives at a kickers legs. Ban that outright. Ban that alone and lets stop putting cotton wool on the halves. If a player runs through for a charge down and hits the kickers leg after kicking tbe ball thats just part of the contact sport imo. As long as tgeyre not diving directly at theyre legs its all good in my eyes.

While it’s a stupid rule and kickers are over protected. The ruling on Curran was correct and Ciraldo basically acknowledged that. It’s the reason you hardly see a charge down these days because no one wants to take the chance. Curran needed to be better and wasn’t.

Calls have been going against us for the last decade. Galvin didnt score. Makasini was removed from the game as a result of foul play. Critta attacked Skeltons face. The Bulldogs had 7 set restarts to the tigers 0.

We had as many game changing decisions go against us as we had go for us tonight.
