Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Saukuru looks to be a good prospect. He needs to make Marshall sit up and pay attention by getting himself superfit. Having a higher standard of fitness will assist with his involvement in attack and defence. We all know his impact with the ball so it is up to him to work hard.
Why just him? All our players should be doing this. Tavana is not fit and he's getting opportunities. Saukuru is equal or better than Herbert in every aspect. Skelton , Laulilii and Turuva have massive deficiencies in their games but this gets overlooked, but Saukuru who has his flaws but greater strengths than the others who aren't made to prove themselves nearly as much as he is

Idk why Skelton is out of favour, he’s cost us big time this season but so has makasini, tavana and turuva has set the world alight either so why don’t we want to keep him, even only for depth
We’ve played half a dozen wingers or so this year, and the only one that’s made half a fist of it is To’a, and we sold him.

Fairly comcerning

I’ve heard that Benji apparently does not have much confidence in Saukuru’s defensive reads and defensive work ethic.
I was a little surprised to hear that could be the reason why he is not getting an NRL call up as I’m sure many agree with me in saying I do not have much confidence in the defensive reads or defensive work ethic of a few of the players he keeps selecting in our NRL team each week.
Exactly. He's not great but neither are those who get a go ahead of him!

Maverick , Kit , Mason and Sukkar … Luke wouldn’t be on much more ,,
Cap doesn’t work like that…
There is a minimum wage, but you’re only allowed (4 I think) players at that level.

Reality is, we have plenty more players that aren’t worth minimum wage than we’re allowed to pay at that.

Yeh big loss To'a. Just look at last night
1. Kicking the ball dead off the knock on to give a 20m 7 tackle restart, instead of a play the ball 10m out.
2. Not catching 5th tackle kick then staring at the ball in the ingoal for 10 seconds. To top that play off didnt dive low to get out of the ingoal and got pushed back in.
3. Offloading it to Gutho.

The concerning thing is if the Muppet ever gets picked again

Yeah…
not 100% sure if the numbers these days, seems like not ago it was 80k.

But Pretty sure it’s still tiered.

I’m not gunna say it’s definitely not the case however I’ve never heard of it ,,,

I’m aware of restrictions on development contracts ( maximum of 6 per club) which sit outside the cap …

I did say ‘half a fist’ of it.
Agree with your assessment
- you won’t need a pictorial to grasp my opinions on the others…

Concerning - as in,
none of them are worth feeding at the moment imo.

Sayfarth is a top 17 playrer …the others shoildnt be anywhere near a first grade team ….. id be dumbfounded if any were over 150k let alone 200
Why do you think our cap is so crap, when we don't have many players on big money, especially compared to other clubs?

It's because across the board we pay an extra $100-300k per player n our squad for them to consider signing for a disaster like us.

Id be getting AD into the centres with a licence to roam. That puts turuva back on the wing. Then javon/laui rest of the year with latu at 9.

I think you'd be surprised how much they're all on.

Even someone like Seyfarth who's been a fringe or bench player most of his career has been on 300-500k over the past several years
Yeah - I can’t see us moving Luke to save the likes of 30-40k…
Not discounting it being a move to fill roster spots.

Honestly, the more I watch him..
I’d be putting Doueihi in the back row.
He doesn’t have the appetite for work to make it there, but what’s his best position?

Getting May seems to have reminded everyone what a real centre is supposed to look like and what they can do….

Doueihi mainly plays for himself, so put him in the back row and let him work it out there…
He’s been tried everywhere, and not been decent for any stretch in any position.
I’m over the headache of it.

This time last year we were trying to sign a 35 yr old half back from the Broncos. Now they’re trying to sell us we had one here the whole time - please.

He only got ‘better’ just before he got injured for mine…
Even in late 2009 he was ordinary, got better in 2010 and then was shot in 2011.
ok, your not talking Makasini or Tavana...

Lawrence maybe?
I recall Elijah Taylor too being really good for two seasons then just too broken.
