Tigers poach schoolboy star after messy exit

Talented utility back David Bryenton, who made headlines by walking out on Canterbury earlier this year, has signed with Wests Tigers.

Bryenton, who won the Peter Sterling Medal as the country's best schoolboy player in 2025, joined the Bulldogs last season but quit after a dispute over the terms of his contract.

The young fullback from renowned Gold Coast nursery Keebra Park State High School has been in hot demand ever since and his move to the Tigers is a big coup for the club.

He is expected to start next season in the NSW Cup but don’t be surprised if he is in the top grade team at either centre or wing by mid-season.

Big call

Fox Sports: WILL FAINU BE AT THE TIGERS BEYOND 2027?

As Fainu focuses on winning the World Cup with Tonga and earning the vacant No.6 jersey at the Tigers, his long-term future at the club is another important piece of the puzzle.

One of nine players coming off-contract - alongside the likes of Fonua Pole and Jock Madden - at the end of next year’s campaign, Fainu is currently free to speak with rival clubs and explore his options as he weighs up his next move.

However, the 21-year-old has made no secret of his desire to remain at the Tigers, particularly given the prospect of continuing to play alongside his brother Samuela and Siona who are locked in on long-term deals.

While Fainu confirmed talks with the Tigers have yet to get underway, he is keen to extend with the side sooner rather than later.

Nothing of substance in here except for naming off contract players lol.

Just heard it was a swap for Trent Liero...if true titans.lose.out big time here

Reallt? I think it's a win for both. Titans need experience/ leadership whereas Storm needs power up front.Trent is known to be one of the best in the ruck hence Billy kept picking him for QLD.

I don't think Bai reaches his ceiling at Titans, and he isn't going to stay there anyway. PNG would have signed him so they were going to lose him anyway. Getting Loiero is a good benefit out of it.

Sign Sam Walker. Think we will have a crack
No chance.

No chance Bulldogs either. Gus hates overpaying and no way he pays $1.5m for him.

Roosters will hold on to him or ask for $300k transfer fee if anyone wants him for 2027.

In 2028, he will 99% be at the Broncos. Hunt will retire and Pezet is likely to end up like Croft and co based on his Parramatta stint.
