Lachlan Galvin #277

You give kids like Galvin a chance to prove themselves. Guys north of 30 are fair game as you have had a long time to form an opinion. They are far from unknown.
I completely agree about Galvin, but Siezar could be quite benefial this year on bugger all for his experience alone..

Yeah it's hard to compare the two eras, because as you said, the game was very different.

I'd be cautious of expecting too much from Galvin this year. I do hope he absolutely kills it, but just conscious that he is only 18.

We will soon see how he goes against men with a few pre seasons under their belt.
91 was 33 years ago.
Half the players in the comp were still smoking back then..

That’s pretty standard. It might surprise you, but players care very little if plebs like us come on here after a game and scorn them for not being able to tackle. It’s the least of their concerns. The only time you hear players acknowledge online comments is if they are of a personal nature. Anything else, I think they know they are fair game.
Anything that’s true on here wont be missed in the video session.

If he is good enough the kid will step up.

I have my doubts about what position but he has momentum on his side, is coming off a high peak season & might of just found his groove/drive/body folding out. His confidence, hunger and belief will be an all time high.

I just don’t want the club to try and fit the kids into the squad & shift them around positions every few weeks. If they play let them play consistently in the 1 position for them to make it their own. If Galvin comes in as a center leave him there for the year, if he is viewed as a forward (lock/backrow) then give him bench time as a starter. If he is a 5/8th and the best at the club play him at 5/8th.

If he’s good enough, hope he doesn’t fall into the Doueihi trap where he can’t nail down a position. So far I have seen him touted by others as a centre, 5/8 and lock. Hope he picks a lane.

Don't know how Galvin will fare in first grade . . . but all this talk of " is his body developed enough to cope" . . . all those of us at Benji's debut at Cambo that afternoon must be wondering wtX everyone is on about.

You would say him being left out of our SG Ball line up for round 1 on Saturday is a pretty good indicator he’s being saved to play NRL in our trials.
How he performs in the trials will tell us if he’s ready for NRL or not.
He’s obviously a very fit, talented and confident young man, I certainly won’t be doubting him.

There's an enormous jump from playing against your own age groups in schoolboys and junior reps to playing against men who have performed regularly against the best, week in week out, for years.

Skill and physicality are one thing, but having the mental resilience and maturity are a completely different kettle of fish.

Fingers crossed for the young fella, but nobody should be lumping too much pressure on him.

There seems to be a massive push for this bloke, all i can say is i hope he lives up to expectations. However like all young blokes he needs time to mature and i just hope that he is allowed enough time to get it.When you are trying to bleed a young bloke into first grade it is far easier if it is just one unfortunately we don't have that luxury as we have quite a few who will be feeling undue pressure on them this year.If they have bad games the most important thing to think about is they are very young and should learn from the experience
Maybe the mole has a player manager mate involved.

The mole has never gpt anything right in his life. Everyone gets a rumor right now and then except him.

No qay Galvin is ready physically.

He’s in the top 30. I don’t think that’s a factor at all. I also don’t see him playing trials as an indicator either.

Or maybe hes injured re: the moon boot photo last week....that said the first trial is usually new recruits, young up and comers having a run where the 2nd trial is more likely to be the senior blokes, close to the season opening run on team

Da Silva and Miller are also in the Top 30 and are playing SG Ball on the weekend.
KR, where is Jekope Sovau?
I was impressed with his speed for a big guy in the game against that Pommy side not that long ago. Can't see him in any SG Ball sides.

I heard that TDS and Kit had a collision last week and had some concussion symptoms. TDS right to go for this week but Kit needs a bit more time and will return for SG Round 2.

the plan is for all of them to build up some match fitness in the first 3 weeks before NRL trials. unsure as to whether Galvin's included given he's only just come out of the moon boot, but time will tell.
