Wests Tigers Home Ground Mega Thread

I don't think it's a matter of losing fans it's about trying to retain a game experience that is preferable.
If you are still a WTs fan now after everything we have been through you are pretty rusted on. Plenty of fans are TV fans for various reasons but I still go to games when I can.
I enjoy watching them play at Leichardt as many fans do it would be silly not to try and support any opportunity to retain that if it's possible. And I have never been one to accept what other people tell me is best because they are in a position of power, because often that does not ring true.

They are not.
So Labour has no interest in giving funding to secure a seat off the greens and the greens would prefer to turn the stadium into an open play space rather a sport ground. Hmm

I will say this, if the nrl want to buy LO, what gives the tigers the rights to it as their ground?

Wests Tigers do not have a home ground, spiritual or otherwise. LO .may be sacred turf for Balmain supporters but not Wests supporters. CO also needs an upgrade but for fans convenience it's the pick. Railway station next to the ground, M5 very close and the Leagues club next-door. Plenty of parking as well. It would only need another grandstand and some upgraded facilities in the old stand. With a competitive team and heaps of local junior's coming through fans would pack the place

Maybe, but they pack LO now without any of that convenience, team success or upgraded facilities

There is no wests ! There is no Balmain ! You’re both dinosaurs , and anybody making a decision with people who carry on with this bullshit in mind … is on the road to nowhere
It's a joint venture, not a merged club. Both Wests and Balmain still exist as proud foundation clubs. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging all 3 entities - Balmain, Wests and the Wests Tigers JV. They have won 16 permierships between them. Only Souths and the Roosters have won more, and equal with the Red V despite their 11 in a row. Split home games between Leichhardt and Campbelltown. A nod to the Macarthur region where wests were headed before joining the JV, and a nod to the inner west roots of BOTH clubs. Two things can be right at the same time. The mighty Tiges will get to play at Accor often enough moving forward...on Grand Final day! As my old man still says at the start of each season, "who are the Tigers going to beat in the GF this year..."

We would rent it from the NRL. It would be a commercial arrangement

All this carry on about Leichhardt. Would this thread even exist if the score was the other way around last weekend?
Until we can upgrade Campbelltown we need to move to Accor fulltime. I like Accor. I couldn't care less if it has no atmosphere with 20k people in it. I go to watch the football and not the crowd. As long as we are making money to secure our future and we are winning games, that's all that matters.

So your solution is that all Sydney based clubs should just share stadiums, with no home ground advantage? No more suburban stadiums??

You really think toilet cubicles differ from stadia to stadia? It's all essentially the same thing. Except for the Morrison dunnies, but no one actually ever uses them.

We should just play all our future matches in a neutral venue??
No one uses the toilets? wow!!!
And neutral venues would be great with no one getting the advantage or dis-advantage.

Hal said they left Redfern. You seemed to think it was because it can only hold 5k. They left when it held 18k so its exactly the same if we leave LO.
Wheres the difference?
Uhhh yeah ok...you are muddying the water here. I don't "seem to think" anything. What I am saying is there is no possibility to move to Redfern now because it now only holds 5,000. It's a moot point for Souths.

Fine, so they decided to leave before the redevelopment. Souths had no money. They didn't really have a choice. We do. Two totally separate scenarios. In fact, I would support a move to any stadium if it was a choice between going under and having a team to support. The reality is, that is not the case with us at this point in time. I am positive fans would want to move to Redfern if it still held 20,000.

What are you trying to achive here? Kill off the history of the club for a buck?

We have a home ground that is connected to the club. We should be finding ways to keep it, not turn coat to the nearest corporate dollar. if you like sterile environments, you can go to Homebush and watch it at the pub or stay home and watch it on TV. We have something that is marketable for the club and people want to bin it.

Surprised it's mostly the old fellas that are so keen to get rid of it.

That's not what you said/asked.

I'm not trying to achieve anything but show you a bit of reality.
But you hold on, like the club has for the last 25 years, waiting for a miracle stadium to be built at LO. Thankfully a realist is running the club now.

Thanks Gal. I live in reality.

The reality is we will move to Homebush. I'm just saying we shouldn't roll over so easy.

Thanks for being so real. We need you to put it all into perspective for us. What would we do without realists like you?

I dunno. Maybe stop holding onto a thought that the NRL will by LO.
LOL!

It’s pretty much what happened in Melbourne.
All Melbourne games played at MCG or Marvel, except Geelong ( which could be equated to Penrith).
We would have 3, Accor, Allianz and Commbank, all owned by Venues NSW. They could be utilised according to the draw.
Seems to work ok, at least down here. All clubs have just moved on from the old grounds.
