Dropping the ball from a kick or from dummy half is not expansive football their just schoolboy errors that provide pressure we cant handle against good teams.
Not the parts I was referring to, I’m talking about the plays where we created overlaps but screwed up through positioning

Agree the schoolboy errors were coach killers

What happened for the next 65mins, it’s an 80 minute game,
I'll tell you seeing as you don't know. He was always dangerous down the left side, unfortunately most times without support. Right on half time chased that mishandled kick to save a try. etc. etc. Mate, you and BZN are in the minority shitcanning Bula. They played the 3 time premiers yesterday and with a fair go on a few rulings were right in that game. I don't think approaching life the right way.

I find it surprising that a Benji Marshall coached team is mainly suffering in attack
As of today we are 9th in defence and 15th in attack
I feel that is due to our weak backline and in particular our flanks
Bula is definitely a class performer but of late is given little room
Olam is a class center but in terms of our 1-5 that's about it !
Bateman was clearly our best attacking weapon playing as a center so leave him there
We have a lot of cover for our pack and Samuela Fainu is really impressing
Both our wingers are a weak point especially Staines but what alternatives do we have ?
Maybe Naden on one wing and Toa on the other .The answer to our wings I honestly don't know but I know its a problem that needs fixing !

Hes not a gun. He may be one day but he is not currently. He does all those things that you say except his attacking positioning is poor and his passing game in backline shifts is nonexistent.
Its not every team in the comp that doesnt have Turbo, Edwards, Ponga or Walsh it is also Tedesco, Papenhuyzen, Hammer, CNK, Drinkwater, Mitchell, Gutherson, Brimson.
He is not close to a gun fullback. He may get there, (though personally i think his ceiling is about that of Will Kennedy) but he is certainly not there yet.
Yes the wingers are trash but Bula has his shortcomings.
Good post. I agree with all of what you say. Bula does have some skills and positive attributes but there is no way that he is the gamebreaker the commentators like to gush about. He has solid pace and footwork and he is particularly reliable under the bomb and in cover defence. Good. However, to be honest, I feel a little underwhelmed by his overall attacking ability. He doesn't seem to have the explosive pace of Walsh, Hammer or, even Sloan, nor the tackle busting ability of Edwards or Brimson. Additionally he rarely makes a break out of the backfield. Maybe hitting the weights harder to increase his leg drive or sprint training to boost his speed off the mark could help.

Has anybody seen solamo

I simply want to support a team that can make the top 8 occasionally, rather than constantly collecting Wooden Spoons.
Last year most blamed the halves, we’ve totally overhauled the halves and surprise surprise we are still clearly the worst attacking team in the NRL

As a fullback you are expected to cover plenty of ground and be there at the sniff of broken field play. The other week when Lachie found space Bula showed up on time to jag the match winner. The best fullbacks in the game do most of their good work following on from line breaks or half line breaks. Purely and simply we aren’t creating enough big chances in attack, and that comes from a real lack of class in the backline. Field position is okay but when we get there we’re like a 3 legged chair.

He’s more comparable with Turbo. Turbo also has guys like Saab, DCE, Koula and Brooksy making shit happen.

Definitely showed heart but multiple errors leading to tries. Tupou made 1 error yesterday and he has been crucified……..
The thing with Junior Tupou is that this is his 3rd season with us, coming to us from Rugby Union in Canberra. He came with a big rap, he is young, big and strong and for want of a better description, has unlimited potential, but currently one could really question whether he has the heart to be a success in the NRL.

He has really been given what could only be described as a rails run in the NRL with us, mainly because of a lack of competition and talent here, sure the kid can make a break and look dangerous from time but for everything that he does well, he makes clangers that generally cost us momentum and generally leads to the opposition scoring points and putting us on the back foot.

His performance under the high ball causes me to have heart palpitations, the way he carries the ball and his general ball security leave a lot to be desired.

Personally I can't wait to see him go but it is disgraceful that we don't have anyone at the moment that can take his place.

I wish the kid luck but fail to see how he takes up an NRL position at the Dolphins with his current form and the roster that the Dolphins currently have, but no doubt he will probably end up being a superstar that this forum will lament as just another one that we let go.

I understand where you're coming from but we're not that far off. A couple of passes to Staines stick, one to Olam with the line open, it's a completely different game. I know, those passes didn't stick, but we're in a position to try them and a bit more practice and familiarity those things come off. The signs are there. Remember 2005, at this point of the season we were 120/1 to win the comp. We'll get better.

We can only hope.
I’m not seeing much to get optimistic about, but hopefully I’m wrong.

Yeah his strike rate with poor handling errors is pretty high. We have been weak in the wing position for quite some time. Ever since Noffas brilliant year (can’t remember exactly which one) we have been really weak in a spot that has become so important

I totally agree. I think we bombed 4 tries. The last pass was either poor or the positioning of the winger was poor. The effort and desire was there. A little bit of polish and those types of games become wins

Yes!

- Naden and Staines, contracted for 2025 - goodbye.

- AJ and Alaimalo - off contract, no new contract.

- Tupou - won't be here in 2025 🐬

- Feledy, has a contract for 2025, worth keeping ??

- Toa and Solo Saukaru, here for 2025 and 2026, what's the word on those guys ?

Surely all can see these are subpar players that need upgrading.
Give Feledy the full season in cup to develop before making a decision.
Toa can go now in my opinion. He'll never change. Has no desire.

I love your positive thinking with your rhyming "24 is the year The Tigers Roar", but how much more roaring do you feel we'll do this year?
I may soon have to change it to “ 25 is when the tigers come alive “? 😇😀
