Jersey Talk - Mega Thread

Never been keen on purchasing the jerseys, but the white one has me interested.

For those who have purchased it, what is sizing like? I'm normally a Large for a baggy/loose fit for regular clothing, would this be the same?
@innsaneink posted a good reference pic
Looks looser fit than the usual tighter fit jerseys of recent years.

I think you'd be safe with an L.

I'm keen to suss the gear when it hits stores.

For those wondering about sizing with the Canterbury Wests Tigers jerseys, you’ll comfortably go back down a size from the Steedens.
Below are three mediums. ISC, Steeden and a fresh CCC. Even in my terrible photo you can see they’re significantly roomier

They actually looked pretty good.

Never knew Des Hasler played for Wests until now. Googled him, and after 28 minutes on the Dress Hassler wiki, made my way to his page and saw he played his final year with them in '97. Super League's only season.

It's turned into quite an interesting thread with all the knowledge being shared! 😊
There's some horrible examples of Wests debutants who made it big at other clubs, esp. in the 80s.

Garry Jack debuted for Wests, so did Terry Lamb, Scott Gale, Mick Neil. A fair few actually in the early 80s defected to Balmain. Jason Taylor had a decent stint at Wests before Norths. Jamie Ainscough, Jim Dymock, Noel Goldthorpe all started at Wests.

I remember Ross Conlon came from Wests too.

Garry Jack was my favourite player as a kid! Never knew he came from Wests either.

For any disgruntled former Wests supporters, you have to concede the Wests Tigers have rather admirably carried on this long standing Wests tradition of players debuting with the club to then go on to stellar careers elsewhere! 🤣

Back on topic of Jerseys...

I love that Anzac Jersey in the middle (Minus the sponsor).

BZN,

First up this site is not heavily dominated by "Balmain People". The site is heavily dominated by Wests Tigers supporters and there several "Wests Magpies people" and "Balmain people" who haven't let go of the past.

The issue you are facing is not your temerity for sticking up for the Magpies on a site dominated by Balmain people. The issue is that the Wests Tigers supporters are aligned with the branding decision made when the JV was established and are on the same bus. If the decision back then was that the JV would be known as the Balmain Magpies then your issue may be valid. But it wasn't.

As pointed out on numerous occasions there is a link in the colour scheme to both foundation clubs and there are historical links on the jumpers to Balmain and Wests, along with the two Magpies on the sleeves. The Magpies on the sleeves maintains the nod to our history. Any new fans will notice and ask the question as to why when they buy a jumper. Your assumption that young people are stupid or ignorant is unfounded.

If you have an issue the place to take it is to the Wests Tigers Board through HBG. HBG is owned by 20 debenture holders who have five board members (71.4%) and two members elected from Wests Ashfield General Membership (28.6%). The membership of Wests Ashfield is approximately 27000. So 0.07% of the Wests Ashfield Members are debenture holders who have 61.4% ownership of Wests Tigers, Wests Ashfield General Members have 25% and Balmain have 10%. If you are frustrated with the colours and the representation you need to look no further than "your side" for the solution.

Let me be blunt: the only people who are capable of instituting change are the debenture holders as they hold all of the decision making power - and they are all "Magpie People". If you want change lobby the members, or become a debenture holder and fight for change there.

While that is happening in the background perhaps you could contribute positively to the discussions on making Wests Tigers a premiership threat.

The only reason they would be wondering why it is called Wests is that the word is unusual and doesn't really name a location.
If the 90% owners had an issue with there not being enough representation of the Magpies, then they would speak up. There is a white jersey FFS!
You clearly won't be happy until it reverts to being the Magpies. People are pushing 30 years old who only know Wests Tigers. You seriously need to get over it and move on.

Dymock was a south’s junior though.

Remember Artie Beetson?

God you post some rubbish, you are right there are 3 Magpies on the Jersey and only 2 Tigers, the mascot of the team. Sounds like the Magpie is represented quite well. Half the name of the club is the heritage of Wests while the other half represents the heritage of the Tigers, sounds fair and reasonable to me.

We plan to play more games at Campbelltown than Leichhardt, again sounds like the Magpies are getting great representation there.

One of our jerseys is predominantly Gold, the other is predominantly white, more fair representation.

I have asked this before and you refused to answer, what is it that you want to see to create this fair representation for the Magpies? This is not an attack but without your answer there is no way to create that fair representation.
