Oh really? Tell me. What was he transparent about in his interview?

This ain't the old days mate. Whatever you say can be immediately verified with evidence now. The video is there for all to see. He tap danced around every question. There was zero transparency.
Well I think you’re in the minority there, a lot more fans like him and are willing give him a chance than those who are not.

Haha its quite funny how they keep pursuing this strategy. Then like clockwork, the propaganda support crew turn up.

The central point, which you have missed or chosen to miss, is not whether fans like him or are willing to give him a go. It is that he is handcuffed and as a result, there was no transparency. That was evident from his interview. Still waiting for the quotes in relation to the "transparency" you speak of - I couldn't find any.

You've framed this as if I have some personal gripe with SM and I want him sacked. That dishonesty is shameful. My issue is that he is limited in his control and decion-making. Don't you see? It wouldn't matter if we had Elon Musk as CEO. He wouldn't be the one making the decisions.

I'm sure SM has a best intentions approach, but I certainly couldn't get up in front of fans and try to avoid the questions they want answered. At that point, you've conceded your integrity in my view, but I also appreciate he is in a tough spot - his choices are limited to behave or leave. A man needs to pay the bills also.

No other club is held back like we are by their board and if they are, there is a mechanism to boot them out.

So one again - quote SM where he was transparent. You can't because he wasn't allowed to say anything for fear of losing his job.

Shaun has been very open and transparent, making himself available and doing his best to make things better moving forward.
Barry is now putting out statements to correct incorrect information being spread.
All our players sound extremely positive and optimistic about is have a successful season.
As of now everything is positive, why keep bringing up the negatives of the past ?
You make a lot of good points. I agree Shaun Mielekamp has been open and transparent, also has been good in his last roll at the WTs and IMO he deserves a shot at the COE position.
The playing group and coaching staff are professionals and will get on with focusing at the job in hand and exclude external noise as much as possible. We may even make the 8. If we have moderate success a lot of the fundamental issues of the club will be hidden for a year or two.
However, long term we are at a huge disadvantage with the clubs where business focus is on the “rugby league team” rather than running a “leagues club” first and a “rugby league team” second.

So far in 2026 there has been no word of any infighting, no word of any blockages or interference to prevent our football department from doing their job and no word of an reason to prevent our players training and playing to the best of their ability.
Surely this is a good thing ?
Why are sone people so insistent on continually bringing up past issues that are not currently a problem ?
Look forward, not back we cannot change the past.
Because history suggests it won't last.

I just managed to open a window in my hectic schedule to listen to the Mielekamp interview.
Nice work - @cochise . Good chat.

Gary "I'm Really Passionate" Mielekamp seems like a decent fella. Living as he does on the Central Coast makes this fact wholly unsurprising.

As an old Magpie man, I did appreciate him slapping down the reference to Campbelltown as "down there". It was an emblematic few seconds which revealed that the club is actually cognisant of the south-west having in the past, been othered by the loudest elements of our fan base.

I agree with those on here who have suggested Mielekamp played a very straight bat. Didnt really have much to share with us. He came across as a rock solid company man - a kind of Ted "I fully back Susssssssan" O'Brien - kind of team player.

Well done to all involved
I give it four stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

PS. He said he grew up in Penrith and was a rugby league fan as a kid - but he didn't reveal (and wasn't asked) who he supported. I assumed Penrith, but that of course, is just an assumption.

I don't think you can make the Penrith assumption. I grew up in the same area and was a Penrith junior along with all of my mates. Very few were, or are now, Panthers supporters even though we played for them.

I left when I was 17 because I didn't want to replace the old footy players sitting on the bar stools at the Rex/Wagon Wheel Hotels and St Marys Leagues Club. Having said that, it was a great place to grow up and I still have many mates that I catch up with there. When I return I do get to sit at the "table of knowledge" with the guys that replaced their fathers and talk footy (and other shite). None of them are Penrith supporters.

The Riff will always be my second team though.

I live in Penrith now and still hate the Panthers.

Why, they’re a great club?
I totally admire what they’ve achieved and often look on in awe.

So much hatred amongst our fans - it’s not healthy peeps

As a lover of the game, can’t say I hate any club.

I’ve even got past my previous, intense dislike of Manly, which of course spawned from the Fibro days.
