OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Luai’s contract allowed him to negotiate and sign before the end of this month.
Our current team with ever increasing contract increase demands from each individual player would have been well and truly ripped apart by 2028 if Luai had stayed as we simply would not have had enough salary cap space to keep them all.
By Luai departing it allows us to offer increased wages to each player we are wanting to keep long term which will hopefully mean we keep most if not all of them.
& PNG to match them. We would have to pay more for the player to have equal take home.

Imagine when this team of mercenaries are playing games in Australia ?

The crowds will be hating on them worse than Melbourne … particularly if they are top of the table
I don’t think we’ll be the only team they pillage. The NRL will do everything in their power to give them a leg up. The hate though should be directed at the NRL though for allowing it. Corrupt merkins.

Wow, how could the Government get around the people who require people to pay income tax (the Government) when it was all set up by...the Government
Aussie citizens residing in Dubai don't have to pay income tax. The PNG gov has said that all players will not be liable for income tax. The tricky part will be if they dont follow the rules about "residing" in PNG. That's where the Aussie govt could be on the hook re changes in the tax law, unfair precedent etc..

Have to think about it from Luais perspective, not just the cash and setting up his family for life but his career accomplishments.

-Has major success with his boy hood club
-Joins a struggling rival (understatement) and helps in the changing of culture and achieved success (top8 in 2/3 years)
-Then moves to a new franchise in png and is apart of starting/building a team from the ground up

Remove the bias and I think we can all agree that’s a professional rugby league career anyone could dream of.

I can see why the media go about what they do, the way the do. You lot are like putty in their hands.

Clauses got Luai here, clauses are how he is leaving. The opportunity he has taken for a player in the twilight of their career is a no-brainer.

He strikes me as an extremely motivated individual who doesn't waste time and effort doing things half-heartedly. He has already showed in his final season at Penrith after signing to Wests Tigers that he is the type of bloke to put everything into what he has already committed to.

Getting this done early provides clarity for all parties.
Haha.."you lot"

Noice

The bloke's a champion and that's how he's behaving.
No drama, no mess, no dragging it out for 6 months.
He'll do his best for his remaining time here and try to deliver us a comp, then pass the baton to the new stars we have coming through like Andrews, Attard and Masi.
He couldn't have handled it any better. We owe him for the way he has resuscitated the dead carcass of our team.
Compare and contrast to our fullback's behaviour and the turmoil he's happy to have the club go through.

Dean Ritchie might actually have some things to complain about then.
