Surgical techniques are much better, swelling management techniques too. Now they use anti g machines, supplements and cryo chambers a lot more as well.

Also depends on the player, you just know Cleary will do everything required. Same injuries behave differently on two players.

Mainly, as long as there aren't any neurovascular or infection issues, I have faith he will be back by round 1.

Lastly as I said before, if his ankle joint mortise wasn't badly damaged, he will have good recovery for sure. For tuiaki as I remember, he fractured multiple bones that form the border of the ankle joint.

The thing that annoys the piss out of me is that all year, the NRL has made a rod for their backs by deeming the player is penalised for the offence not the result, this includes a few instances of injury this season. Now a discretionary call was made to send Crossland off because it happened to Cleary.

In saying this it really does suck for Cleary and I do hope he finds his way back onto the field after that because it was heinous injury.

NRL need to nut up during the off season and decide whether to make a call on whether a hip drop is a send off or not going forward.

Why does every hip drop need to be determined to be a send off or not? Not every high tackle is a send off. Each tackle always needs to be judged on its own and the injury caused, just like every illegal tackle is.

I don't like it but definitely injuries will be looked at. First one I remember was Alex McKinnon when McLean got 10 weeks

I saw a video of someone filming behind the goal posts. Anyone claiming Crossland did it on purpose needs to be taken away on the short bus. Not saying you are saying that KS, but people have definitely claimed it was deliberate. As for the injury determining the punishment. It’s harsh. This isn’t Danny Williams king hitting Mark O’Neill. It’s a split second thing in the run of play. This is where the NRL should take some responsibility for the kind of game they have been festering for years. No one cares if it’s an average player. But now it’s happened to the games golden boy, maybe something will change. Especially if its a worse case scenario and he never plays again.

Conor McGregor was never the same after his leg break and he would have had the money for the best treatment in the world.

The chances that he will make a quick recovery are much slimmer then him being a shadow of his former self if he returns to the game at all. The mental game alone will be hard to overcome he won't have the same confidence.

Hopefully that results in a Roorters send off and a Newy victory, what a fairy tale that would be but more likely that they are beaten by some freakish Marky Mark Magic.

I suppose you could say the 50 plus points hoodoo is broken if the Roosters win, but they did field a reserve grade side that day so I’m not sure it really counts.

The thing I find interesting is that both teams who had the week off prior lost the prelims. When was the last time that happened?

I think you’re right. The way they celebrated after the game was not the clinical professionalism of à GF winning team. Getting there is an important part of the process but it’s a means to an end, not an end in itself.
Of course they were excited, as were their supporters but I would have preferred them to gather as a group in halfway, turn slowly salute all their spectators at all parts of the ground, and then walk off as a close knit unit.
Even their coach, who I admire greatly got a bit carried away, both on the field and in the dressing room.
They’ve done really well but echo your sentiments D.
