2012-2013 Football (Sokkah) Thread

I'm not that into soccer, rarely sit down and watch a whole game….but I can appreciate the skills of the best players in europe, some of them are just brilliant, and i love betting on the A-League....get some good odds with 3 & 4 leg multis occasionally

The quality of the A-League is far less than that of Europe, but there is still some quality players here, particularly young blokes who are going on to get contracts in Europe. Starting to get some decent foreign players here too, albeit in their twilight years.

LOL yeah a bit over the top. Was the result of a spot of drunk typing after a day on the turps arguing about footy codes with some poms….dont get you knickers in a twist Allan I acknowledge it was a dumb post.

A spot of drunk typing :roll :roll :roll :roll

Mate you drunkenly drove over just about every topic on the Forum :roll

You even finally admitted that fullbacks were better than second rowers

Suppose it didn't help with some other Qld mongrel egging you on at 2.00am in the morning

well 3-1 away

Neuer had a brain fart on that cross,

nevermind that Cazorla kicked it into podolski for that corner.

anyway

Arsenal as good as gone, and we didnt even get out of 2nd gear.

Just wish Robben had played from the start, he would have torn Koscelny apart.

Hell I could've torn Koscielny apart!

Hey Sotaris ive been meaning to ask you
What do you think of the Guardiola signing?
Why are the getting rid of Heykens? I think hes done great things with Bayern this season

Who's your pick to take the CL out Sataris? Madrid will be lucky to hang on at Old Trafford, but Man U don't have the class in the backline to beat the likes of Bayern or Barca.

Extremely excited at Guardiola!

He'll be able to instill some mental toughness and strength. The teams been missing that since Ballack and even Effenberg .

Heynckes is retiring at the end of the season, Bayern asked him what he wanted to do and he said that he's had enough, and they started to talk to Guardiola.

Same as my pick for the last 3 years.

Bayern.

I was in tears last year, and in 09\. Besides.

We have to win one EVENTUALLY :stuck_out_tongue:

If Milan hold on in Spain, I think the CL will be down to a two horse race, Bayern and Man U/Real. I felt going into this season it was between Bayern/Barca and Man U based on how they all finished last season in the CL. However with Mourinho leaving Real I think it brings them into contention as he will be so determined to win this one before he goes.

Dortmund, Juve, Milan and PSG are slim outside chances, but may cause a big scalp.

Barcelona are a different kettle of fish . Superior footballers….

Real test will be on the return leg for Barca. 2-0 loss with nearly three quarters of the possession would be spirit breaking.

The Italian sides really seem to give Barca a lot of trouble defensively They seem to be able to close them down so effectively

I agree with what you say CB , but wouldn't write them off just yet either

7 in a row the mighty Wanderers. Yeah!!

Another insipid display again from Glory. Absolutely nothing shown up front, had plenty of ball and plenty of opportunity to create but found nothing. Again. 9 1-0 losses in 22 games, 11 losses by a single goal. With a bit of attacking flair/structure you would expect half of those games to return a point or better and have them sitting in the finals hunt. Just an abysmal football team right now.

The Wanderers are showing how it is done. I look forward to their games.

Enjoyable game, although the goal was a little lucky. Still enjoyed it, and bumped into Buzz Rothfield after the game who said he enjoyed the game. Let me just say, the guy is very very red.

Dumb question probably

Man U v West Ham game is listed as our next game on the 10/3 at 2.00 AM

Its not listed on Austar or the EPL page

Have Man U forfeited already ?? Seriously though , Is it due to possible CL commitments ??

The Premier League probably enforced the mercy rule in advance Happy :stuck_out_tongue:

I've checked the PL website and I can't find any info for that game at all. Perhaps it was rescheduled? Our next game is 17/03 hosting Reading.

Did anyone else make the trip up to Gosford to watch the mighty Wanderers beat the Mariners?

It was such an awesome trip! Drank for 4 hours at the pub before the march and got all cheery. Hahaha. The march itself was not like the Central Coast have seen, that's for sure!! There was maybe 3000 or 4000 people marching the backstreet to Gosford. Unfortunately a girl had a seizure so we missed out on the big "Who do we sing for" pre-match chant. She is okay now though and hopefully we'll see her come this weekend.

The match itself wasn't the greatest quality. The Wanderers were on the poor side and the Central Coast were pushing. Only scramble defense and Covic kept us in the game. Haliti worked a play off Bridge and we got the winner. The crowd was awesome! Sung and chanted the whole game. My arms were sore after waving a flag for the best part of 90 minutes and my voice was gone.

The celebrations outside the gates after the march are something I'll never forget. A good march back to the pub rounded out an awesome trip. Best $150 spent on the day and will take those memories to the grave with me.
