2012-2013 Football (Sokkah) Thread

Here's a statement I was 10,000/1 to be saying prior to the season: "Gee that Swansea team looks slick"
They haven't beaten much but the way they have beaten them has been impressive.

Smashed them?

Arsenal still stuck with a duck egg after another 0-0 draw.

We gave them 2 goals and were all over them, so yeah, I'd say we smashed them. Suarez's goal was a gem, worth watching, especially the replay from behind the net.

I missed half the EPL highlights show last night, the Liverpool-City game must have been in the first half of it… Will try to catch the replay.

Van Persie almost single handedly got them into a CL spot last season. Without him they would've finished in a similar spot to Liverpool. They need to pick it up fast or they will miss the CL for the first time in a while. Then again they looked shot 12 months ago and still finished 3rd, when they had just lost 8-2 to Man U.

Black Cats to sign Dempsey from under Liverpools nose is the latest! FINGERS CROSSED!
HAHAHAHA @ Liverpool… won't even make the Europa this season. Duds.

If we manage Dempsey... between Saha, Fletcher and Dempsey, we'll have no problem finding the net. Also heard rumours somewhere we are looking at snagging Dawson from Spurs... if true... we'll jag a Europa birth!

On the Eden Hazard comments, the kid is amazing. Not saying he is as good as Messi, but plays the same way. He's lightning fast his ball control is phenomenal, its no surprise he's already won 2 penalties this season. He's gona win a LOT more me thinks.

I'm going to open a can of worms here, but I'd like to see Messi play in front of a midfield that isn't half made up of Spanish internationals. Emile Heskey would be a legend playing in front of Xavi and Iniesta.

Haha yes I've seen the lost of why Heskey is better than Messing
.. very funny.

That said. Messi's amazing. I've never watched a player move the ball at such pace and agility before. These attributes make him unstoppable. Best player in the world. By light years.

That said Xavis vision and passing game definitely helps lol

Messi great player but he needs Xavi and Iniesta to be the best..

Lucas Leva, out for most last year with injury, injured against Man City, out for 2-3 months now. I'm thinking it's time to sell him.

In slightly related news

We've signed Javi Martinez for a reported 40m Euros'

and Mandzukic looks like he's going to keep Gomez out of the starting side, (which is a good thing!)

Champions League Draw happens overnight. Based on the seeding it is possible that Real Madrid, Man City, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund all get drawn together, which would probably be the first time the champions from the top 4 domestic leagues have been put in the same group. Even if it doesn't happen, there is real potential for a group of death.

Pot 1 - Chelsea, Barca, Man U, Bayern, Madrid, Arsenal, Porto, Milan
Pot 2 - Valencia, Benfica, Shaktar, Zenit, Schalke, City, Braga, Kyiv
Pot 3 - Olympiacos, Ajax, Anderlecht, Juve, Spartak, PSG, Lille, Galatasaray
Pot 4 - Celtic, BVB, BATE, Dinamo Zagreb, Cluj, Malaga, Montpellier, Nordsjaelland

Poisonous… There's always a standout GOD though. My pick is that Barca will take the biscuits this year. They underachieved last year.

Bayern or Barca in my opinion. Just hoping it isn't Real.
