2012 Halfback Super-Thread

Mate I agree… Been praying for years we get ourselves a player to manage both Robbie & Benji. Once this happens, I feel both Robbie and Benji will go to a new level...

When Miller has played in top grade he has always looked at his best at dummy half with Farah at first reciever
Now I'm not saying that Farah should be half but in those few games we looked far more dangerous with that set up
If we go with Miller it is going to be so important that Benji and Farah have confidence in him
They are probably getting a bit sick of trying to help build a new half back

I wonder how Sheens rates Miller…..thats what counts. I was told he rated him behind Lui and Sironen, but still liked him. Is that enough to get him the #7? I think he should get first shot.

Andrew johns said earlier in the year that Jacob miller is the best halfback he has seen since the Toyota cup started, that's good enough for me.

If Lui does go i would like to see Miller given a go but with a half there to give the kid a break & take some pressure off Miller & bring him along gradually.

I would like to see Miller given a go but during the off season get Johns in to try and bring him up to nrl standed because we dont have a ex half back to try and bring him up to speed , i do think he has got the game for first grade but i am no coach,if Lui is found not guilty it would be a great contest for the half back spot if Lui is found guilty and we let him go we have got to have a half ready to go.

We do probably have Steve Georgallis as an assistant coach but I'm not trying to put him in Andrew Johns category as a half back

Good point but half back have more responsability in the game today than when Steve played and i just think he would not be able to give Miller what johns can give, this is in no way saying Steve would not be a good mentor to Miller Steve was a good half and a great Magpie and i am sure he will look after the kid and give him good advice

Joey likes to make a big call, I cant agree wth him on this one as of yet, but I hope he is right

it is nice to have great players rate him tho

For mine earlier in the year Miller looked ready but near the end of the season he looked a different player to what he produced in the first half of the year. For the people bagging Lui's defence the last 4-5 games I saw Miller play his defence was non-existant.

I think he is too young and comparing him to DCE is wrong. DCE spent a year playing Queensland Cup against men and was name the competition best player. For mine Miller needs one more year in the 20's and a full year in NSW cup/reserve grade before he will be ready. He has the potential and I think he will make it.

For mine unless we can find a good experience half I would be tempted to find a decent hooker and play Farah at half. I know it didn't work in the past but the last few years Farah has looked better when playing first or second reciever. I think it may be our best option if Lui is gone.

What is Rangi Chase's contract situation with Castleford
Had a great season over there and is some talk of a chance of possible Man Of Steel award

Lol , I have a soft spot for Nathen Waters , so I just wanted to hear what the forum had to say about him. Got my answer I suppose .
.

My way of thinking was he is 26-27yrs old , so he has alot of 2nd grade experience , would have a good understanding of his trade . With Benji and Farah in the side there would not be pressure in him to play make (which is his weakness) . He can kick , and defends like a front rower .

He is a player who puts his heart and soul into everything he does. So with a full offseason to hone and prepare for the No7 who knows?

John Morris put his heart and soul into everything and defended like a front rower too.

Nathan Waters ain't an option that will get us into the 8, nor is a long term option to set us up for 2012\. Benji needs someone creative to take the pressure off him or he might start throwing the ball over the sideline again.

Has to be Miller.

If Benji or Miller are out, I think Lawrence, Ayshford, Siro, Humble or Farah will play in the halves, unless its no more than 1 or 2 games.

What about the Warriors u20s half back Jordan Meads?
Went well in the grand final including kicking the match winning field goal.
