He has rose coloured glasses when it comes to Lawrence. I was a massive fan of his prior to his hip disclocation. Either through after effects or partly because he has bulked up too much, he simply isn't the same player anymore and his defensive reads have gone from being quite solid, to reserve grade quality and he really is a liability in FG these days. It's unfortunate it has panned out this way, but it that's the way it is.

Lawrence has played for Australia, was on the cusp of Origin not that long ago and has been, for a long time, one of the Tigers best. I understand the bloke has been a shadow of his former self since injuring his hip, but we're all now prepared to throw him on the scrap heap? Please. Wake Up!

The bloke hasn't done himself any favours by, in my opinion, coming back from hamstring injuries, back complaints and the hip problem a little to early. Take the rest of the year off, build back some strength, speed and confidence in his body then come back bigger and better in 2014\. I agree, there are an abundance of good young outside backs kicking down the door to earn a place in the side, it's fantastic. But I honestly believe Lawrence is destined to be one of our best backrowers. I see a lot of Luke Lewis in him, and that's the sort of role I see Lawrence providing for the Tigers.

I'm prepared to be rubbished, there's plenty of blokes on here who seem set on cutting everyone and starting a fresh parramatta style, but that's not the way to go. We have the talent, it's now about see the potential fulfilled.

And on another note, I can't believe the plonker on another thread who deemed Aaron Woods a secondrower hasn't been hammered like I have. Seriously!

Disappointing but not surprising to see the attitude of many towards Lawrence, and even towards Benji. Sure, we all want the WT to win and these guys are really struggling but they are also icons of our club and have given us the best part of their careers, their passion and loyalty, and both are internationals. If there are 3 players at our club who would ever deserve a bit of grace to rediscover their best, it would be these two and Robbie. If we can turn on a local boy and fan favourite like Rowdy we can turn on anyone, which makes me wonder why we support the WT in the first place. Get behind him to come good in 2014.

We will support them, but hey need to show improvment or your just flogging a deads horse. :deadhorse:
Ricky stuart had the balls to call it like it is, maybe Potter needs to do the same.

You have got to be kidding shooshmeister.
Benji hasn't started the best this season, but just last year the bloke lead the league in try assists with 37-odd (from memory).
Chris Lawrence came back from a terrible hip injury, probably a little too early and that affected his performances last season. Like all footballers, Rowdy feeds off confidence and after an injury like that, his would be shot. It won't just come back overnight. But at the same time you don't just cut the bloke either. Unbelievable. The bloke is a professional and will come back better. He is on the right side of 25 and has plenty still to offer the Tigers. Those hoping he gets cut need to pull their heads in.

I get the distinct impression you aren't really aware of the long term effects an injury like the hip dislocation Lawrence suffered can have on a person. And when I say long term effects, I mean mental and physical. Mentally I don't think Lawrence has any issues, he's very smart, highly motivated and puts his body on the line. His problem now is physical. He did not come back too early, players are assessed by Doctors and trainers to make sure they're ready to cope with FG.

I suggest you take a good hard look at his lateral movement and his ability and willingness to turn and chase when break is made by the opposition. Lawrence has come up with incredibly poor defensive reads this year which have directly led to tries being scored against the Tigers. Secondly, there have been games when Lawrence has been beaten on his outside in defence, which is a direct result of his lateral movement being poor, and as soon as that happens he pretty well gives up the subsequent chase, because his speed and stamina are also below par.

Moving him into the backrow won't help him, he's already too bulky for his own good and it shows in his lateral movement and lack of outright speed these days. He's had his share of injuries over the years, mainly ankle and hamstring problems, but the hip disclocation has left him a shadow of the player he was, in physical terms, and for that reason, I'd be inclined to let him go at the end of his contract.

his contract ends in 2015/16\. he's on big money till then.

i havent given up on his chances at centre. he needs a few weeks in the State Cup to get back to full confidence.

on the contrary to what willow believes, i think a lot of his problems have been mental. confidence is a real b*Tch. look at the eels game, he broke the line once, he was high on confidence.. till lyon showed him up in the manly game. he hasn't looked good since.

im confident he will come good. last year was one of his worst years but before that in 2011 (right after he came back from another hammie injury).. he blew saints and manly off the park. this was after the comeback from the hip injury.

he's still only 25- only a couple of years older than woods i think and already with over a hundered games and one of the leading try scorers. i know this is all in the past but imo later this year he will be the leader of our outside backs.

And he will be worth nothing as a player by that stage in the NRL

Blaming one man for tries being scored down entire side of the field is a bit rich.

at the beginning of this season he was all but unable to make defensive reads, he was pushing up and in when he should have been shifting with the line creating overlaps, other times flat footed and run around. No-one is picking on the bloke, it has been there on national TV for all to see. It is what it is unfortunately.

I am pretty sure every fan of the club wishes for him to regain past form, but currently he has been dismal.
