2019 Coaching saga -Thread

Well a few people are throwing up Griffins name , I’m surprised he hasn’t thrown his hat in for the manly job. At the end of the day he was the scapegoat by Gould & Cleary there’s been nothing mentioned at all about his future. “strange”.

People just getting desperate running out of things to say.
Glad when all of this is over.
Then I suppose will have to deal with all the negative comments about the new coaching arrangements. But that’s life I suppose got let the people have their say …. it’s called democracy.

TPJ rumoured to be signing only one year with broncos

Maybe Bennett using him as a bargaining tool in negotiations with tiger's

You keep IC for 1 year and I will bring TPJ with me in 2020 as i just want 1 last year with broncos

TPJ is contracted for 2019\. Signing for a year would keep him there the end of 2020.

So much for that idea than

And I don’t think Bennett would need any bargaining chips with us. We need him a lot more than he needs us.

It was just a thought for him to be able to coach broncos next year and us 2020 otherwise he risks losing out all together if our club wants someone ASAP

How many times does Bennett have to say that he
Is staying in Brisbane next year before some here finally get it?

Don't jump the gun too quickly on this one. Bennett is the preferred option and what is being reported isn't always true - we've seen enough nonsense printed by journos to know better.

Exactly

No he’s off contract now . He’s waiting for his contract with his agent to lapse in November before he signs his next contract .

Cheers mate

Agree Willow, Bennett wants to coach past 2019, we are offering him a chance, that chance might not be there if we sign Madge for 2019\. It looks like Pascoe is playing this well, and Bennett might have to come for 2019, or risk not having a job to go to in 2020

Exactly 851

That's the point of my post

Obviously would like to coach broncos in 2019 but that could leave him stranded without a job

If he was able to sign TPJ to broncos for 1 year than have TPJ agree on nov 1 to sign with us from 2020 they may sway our board to hold IC for 1 more year

This might be a silly thing to say but what about we sign Wayne Bennett for 2020 for three years and let him appoint a caretaker coach for 2019\. You never know we might get Demetriou for a year. Not sold on Maguire.

Excellent idea

Somehow I feel we will get a dud deal.
I'll laugh if we end up with Griffin and release Cleary. Gus doing the old switcheroo on the coaches.
Knowing us we will probably cop that. I hate this club at times.

A bit early for hate don't you think. We haven't signed a new coach yet and still might end up with Cleary for 2019 at least.

No hate this end, but massive disappointment in an individual. I really find it hard to fathom the ridiculousness and extent of this father/son coaching crap. Unless of course, it has been played out to benefit them both at the expense of many others, and if so, then my feelings for the pair would be verging on hatred.

Agree formerguest

I have a 20 year old son. I love him more than anything on earth. But he’s a lunatic. His ideas are ridiculous. His weekend activities are just plain dumb. You see he’s 20 and I’m 51\. Never the two shall meet. Cleary and Cleary- disaster waiting to happen!!

If nothing gets better here . we won’t be giving him that present.

The Brisbane River will flow clean water , before Bennett comes here except as an opposition Coach.

How..?

Pay him …like any one else..

Hmm, what if Cleary decides to get nasty and insists on staying for 2020, if we force him to stay for 2019?

If he gets nasty and stays, let him coach the side but we still have Wayne Bennett person in place to make recruitment and retention decision . Besides panthers have a two /three year window to win a premiership , they need him now, not in two years time.

But why wouldn't Ivan want to build a solid last year?

Again, the Panthers are "still in limbo", their current coach has been publicly told he'll be coaching first grade next year, why is it that "they'll be alright" yet we won't be?

The Bronco's, no coach after next year and now this could happen that they could be without a coach next year, despite what Bennett has stated.

There's no indication Cleary wants to "get out fast" at all and I don't think a lack of statement from him really counts as "wanting to get out fast".

In the end, it'll all be sorted however it all goes. We'll still have a coach, I understand people are disappointed with all this, but it's not going to kill club or the side, we'll still have a coach, just depends on who and the club is clearly sorting trying to sort it out, which takes time. Would have been easier had Bennett been leaving at the end of this year though.

Would have been a lot easier if Cleary did not hold discussions with Penrith for next year onwards and then indicate his wanting to get out fast to WT CEO and Chair. Thus, pretty clear that he would not want to build a solid last year under sufferance having informed the club that he prefers to leave.

He's not under sufferance at all for starters and had told players he'll be here next year. Is Bennett under sufferance knowing, and publicly conformed no less, that he won't be at the Broncos?

At least Cleary knows he's wanted, Bennett isn't. I would say one is under more "sufferance" than the other.

So the coach that informed his CEO and chair that he would rather be coaching Penrith than their team and when told that that he would not be allowed to leave early to do so, is not staying under sufferance. Yeah okay, you're correct and like you, I should have understood that Ivan was jumping for joy and noted the enthusiasm dripping from his statement.

It also had/has nothing whatsoever to do with Bennett.

So, there's official confirmation that IC stated he would rather coach Penrith? We know the club has stated that he will be here to fulfill his contract, players have stated that IC will be here next year.

My remarks about Bennett have to do with people carrying on about IC, the club and potential no coach and how that affects everything, yet somehow, the Broncos and Penrith, who are both in the same boat not exactly knowing what's going on, seemingly get a free pass.

Shouldn't that post be in the just jokes thread

Funny that eh? Both of those clubs in a 'premiership window' with apparently more to lose than a rebuilding WT.

Another one :crazy

You never have anything of value to add?

Do you think our club will come out on top here? I don't.
The CEO and admin are dead quiet.
The coach is dead quiet.
The players have no idea what's going onand of course we the fans have no idea.

Less than a month before pre season training and we already a mess for 2019.

I'm willing to bet we won't end up with Bennett or Madge.
We are just too disfunctional to attract anyone with any real talent.

With what??.we’d need Donald Trumps coffers to get him here,
I repeat , He wants a pension and more importantly a goodbye Premiership.
Unless Harry ( you remember Harry, the poor mans Nick Politis)
Opens up his wallett and buys him , forget that daydream, that won’t be happening , at least in the near future,

He might just get his premiership next year at the Broncos and probably already has millions stashed away and not need big dollars anymore

Maybe just loves coaching

You wouldn't know

Just seem to love raving on
