But why wouldn't Ivan want to build a solid last year?
Again, the Panthers are "still in limbo", their current coach has been publicly told he'll be coaching first grade next year, why is it that "they'll be alright" yet we won't be?
The Bronco's, no coach after next year and now this could happen that they could be without a coach next year, despite what Bennett has stated.
There's no indication Cleary wants to "get out fast" at all and I don't think a lack of statement from him really counts as "wanting to get out fast".
In the end, it'll all be sorted however it all goes. We'll still have a coach, I understand people are disappointed with all this, but it's not going to kill club or the side, we'll still have a coach, just depends on who and the club is clearly sorting trying to sort it out, which takes time. Would have been easier had Bennett been leaving at the end of this year though.
Would have been a lot easier if Cleary did not hold discussions with Penrith for next year onwards and then indicate his wanting to get out fast to WT CEO and Chair. Thus, pretty clear that he would not want to build a solid last year under sufferance having informed the club that he prefers to leave.
He's not under sufferance at all for starters and had told players he'll be here next year. Is Bennett under sufferance knowing, and publicly conformed no less, that he won't be at the Broncos?
At least Cleary knows he's wanted, Bennett isn't. I would say one is under more "sufferance" than the other.
So the coach that informed his CEO and chair that he would rather be coaching Penrith than their team and when told that that he would not be allowed to leave early to do so, is not staying under sufferance. Yeah okay, you're correct and like you, I should have understood that Ivan was jumping for joy and noted the enthusiasm dripping from his statement.
It also had/has nothing whatsoever to do with Bennett.
