I don't understand why you think that is more "professional". Do you think it was in the interests of the club to keep him for another 12 months if he wasn't in it for the long haul? When there were good coaching options available now that might not be available in 12 months time? When the whole squad were going to know he wanted out? I don't understand what purpose that would have served. A longer recruitment window doesn't necessarily mean you'll get a better result.
They're trying to achieve some long-term stability which is something this club has been lacking for a long time. A committed coach is a necessary component of that.
