2021 Roll Call

??, Allambie Heights, Parkes, Brisbane.

I know Lithgow, Orange and Bathurst.
I frequented places like Forbes, Dubbo, Orange, Bathurst and Cowra for school excursions - mostly sporting trips -  while my older sister's best friend was from Lithgow.
Tbh I tried to avoid all places at all costs though, as they were colder than Parkes.
The one thing I hated and don't miss about Parkes is the winter months.

I actually remember attending a Group 11 game years ago in Orange. I'm not sure which teams played but I loved Bubba Kennedy, so remember watching him in adoration that day.

The older I have got the more I feel the cold weather that why I want to move to a warmer place.
I was at Caves beach last week when Bathurst had a -6 degrees morning, it was 12 degrees at Caves.

There's a good takeaway down the road from Caves called Park View Takeaway.
Highly recommend.

Currently in Ashfield but grew up in a small town called Walcha between tammworth and amridale

Walcha would have to be one of the coldest places in Aust.

no mate Blaney....between Bathurst and Orange...

Agree with you there and Newbridge which is not far up the road is pretty much the same as Blayney.

Had to boil the kettle and tip it over the points at Newbridge a couple of times because they were frozen on the way home from Parkes once on a freighter and another time on the Indian Pacific.

While on the subject of that area, I wonder if the old tennis court is still there at Wimbledon because I always wanted to have a game of tennis there just so I could say that I played tennis at Wimbledon.

Parkes is a lovely place. I think it has good years ahead of it with the inland rail and some big mines probably going ahead.

Oberon!

I actually like the cold and I find cities like Orange and Bathurst beautiful. Give me a foggy morning and a fireplace over humidity any day.

Widnes, England ??

Are you a Chemics/Vikings supporter?

St Helens supporter mate. I live in Widnes now (the past 5 years) but I was born and grew up in St Helens (previous 29 years)

Supporting a successful team like that must help ease the pain of supporting the Tigers. I was worried for you for a minute - supporting Wests Tigers AND Widnes would almost be unbearable haha.

Born and bred in Ipswich …little place about 15 kms out of town called Karalee

Moved to the mining town of Moura …west of Rockhampton …hoping to rekick footy career …at that stage the new CQ Extended League was being spoken up and would have been a chance to look after my career options in the Mines and get paid to play a hopefully highish standard of footy

Moved because I had a good mates sister in Moura teaching at High School at Moura …and she went on a holiday after school year and died in a freak diving accident …two boats went out …each boat thought she was on the other boat and they left her out there …extremely sad

Just didn’t work out …it was just bush footy and even the Broncos weren’t looking at setting a feeder team in the comp at that stage and really just moved from contractor to contractor without getting a job at the mines which may have been fortunate …not long after moving the last Moura Mine disaster which killed 6 people occurred

Now in Gladstone been here for 28 years …2 kids …talking to you guys and gals lol

Just to add

Just feel lucky you have a side to support still

IN the QRL /BRL I supported the Wests Panthers and ended up their from 87 to 89

They died at A Grade level in 1997 due to financial issues and horrible results ..and that was after going back to back in 1992/93

Can tell you it's not a nice feeling .....

Be thankful ...losing by 50 might be bad ...but you can still support them next week

@hobbo1 - you'll be surprised apparently it is quiet now but a long long time ago it was bad (bad is an understatement :joy said:
I used to hang at the Doonie hotel back in the late 80’s early 90’s ?

I had a 3 month contract with Department of Housing in Doonside in 89. Was an eye opening experience, especially Helios Crescent.

Blayney is cold, but Oberon is colder, not far as the crow flies from the Snowy mountains, the wind is so cold it cuts you in half there in winter

Long time reader of this forum , been even longer since I first posted !!
Regular poster on the so called FB forums ( frowned upon in here im reading )
Born and bred in Parramatta district , lone balmain tigers fan living with a household of parra fans!!
Now a tormented ,and frustrated Wests Tigers member !! Always say to myself Ill giving up on them then 24hrs later Im back on board but gee its playing the long game here and patience isn't one of my strong points!! lol

Now settled in the shire and loving it with the family!! :+1:

Born and raised within walking distance from the Mighty Magpies home ground of Pratten Park in Ashfield/Croydon.
Then a short time in Bathurst, a little longer in Goulburn,
then Parklea, moved to Pentridge Vict and finally Long Bay for a while.
I'm now live in and terrorising the area around Barrington Tops.

Were you a screw or a crim, a lot of gaols in those towns, asking for a friend:smile: , I done some time working as a screw

Luckily for me I've never done porridge or been 'inside' in any form.
Although a few years back I drove up to a wall of Goulburn Super Max, got out of the car and touched the wall to see if I could feel any vibes, then got back in the car and drove away.
When I got to the main entrance one of the guards came out and stopped me and asked what I was up to and demanded to see my I.D.
I felt a bit uncomfortable for a while.
You must have some interesting stories to tell from your time as a screw?

Yeah mate I seen and done some pretty out there things in the time I was working there, most of my time was at Lithgow gaol which is maximum security, with some high profile inmates

I spent some time growing up around there when I moved to NSW...
Good little spot.

I love it.
Expensive area to buy.

Born in Bathurst, moved to Port Macquarie, then Katoomba Penrith, then Parramatta, but like a boomerang kept going back to Bathurst in between those moves.
Hopefully next move is to Swansea/Caves Beach, just got to get the boss onboard.

You wont regret it.

I would have moved years ago, it’s just the boss always procrastinates.

My missus was not keen either. It is very hard to break ties. We have been here 8 years now and she will never go back, even if I depart this wonderful earth. Every time we cross the Swansea bridge, we feel like we are on holidays. Does not matter what day off the week.
