2021 Thoughts and team possibilities

Been having a think and its not as bad as it all seems....
Considering the the following:

* We have 4 players this year on massive money and not really playing or contributing (Reynolds, Packer, Mbye and Mcqueen)

* Salary cap hit for Farah still on books

* Used 31 players this year (most of any club)

* Fair to say we have been on the rough end of the ref's in most games

* A lot of very young players and having to swap players positions around

* Hard Draw compared to Eels or Panthers as example

Taking all this into account and I'm sure I have missed a lot, but we are in equal 10th and 6 other teams below us with a lot more talented rosters to us. Now i'm not say this is acceptable at all but given what Madge has at his disposal I think he is doing a great job.
He is developing the juniors and if we had some real leaders in the team we would be in the 8 - Kinda like the panthers they have alot of young ones and love playing for each other because the seniors are leading them around and setting standards by example.

Next year we lose Benji, McQueen, ET just to name a few and if we can pick up maybe 1 or 2 experience Leaders like a Tamou or Proctor we should get stronger.

In 2022 when we lose Reynolds, Packer Maybe Mbye and we will be in a much better position to buy external players that we need. We have heard all this before I know but we need to give Madge a opportunity to get HIS team.
As a fan you have to love the fact that he sticks up for his players and the club 100% of the time in media regardless of a outcomes or salary cap problems that he didn't create.

That is a strong exciting pack. That pack has something the tigers have always needed, big strong players.

What are they all going in for heart surgery the pack has been disappointing this year the way Pamfers manhandled them was sad

Yep. I think our pack is starting to look good. Hopefully we can get some backs to play off that space.

The riff are the best team in the comp and even last year that were duds at times.

8 Aloiai
9 Liddle
10 Musgrove
11 Luciano
12 Blore
13 Twal
14 Stefano
15 McIntyre
16 Mikaele
17 Garner

My ideal 2021 forwards and It’s a solid pack. If they all play their best they should be able to hang with a decent amount of teams. We have some genuine size which is good, they just need to all play at their best more consistently

That's the best pack we'll have next year but I think they'll get worked over. With the exception of Aloiai and perhaps Twal there's noone there that will run over 100m. It's been a real problem lately.

McIntyre should spend the pre season training at lock. He’s big, has footwork and can learn to pass. Twal broke the line ONCE in 2020 found out he had some pace then stopped dead because he shocked himself. It was hilarious to watch. He is a Prop. Or as Scott Prince said to the ref when he was playing for Gold Coast: “ How come you sin binned my 5/8? The Tigers only lost a big dumb prop!” It was Gibbs he was referring to.

Can’t say I see many props making line breaks in the NRL. He needs to work on his passing if he wants to stay at lock

On your other point, Gibbs certainly fits the category of big dumb prop 😂

Our forward pack is a bit like a used car yard, mostly made up of players other clubs wanted to get rid of.

For the most part, this pack hasn't delivered in 2020. I can't see them doing much better in 2021 as other teams improve their roster.

Our forwards are struggling big time to make metres this season. We are ranked at bottom of all teams in pre contact metres and post contact metres we are infront of 2 teams.Poor Pre contact metres indicates our forwards stand way too flat when they get the ball and therefore results in no momentum hitting line hard creating post contact metres This is something that should be worked on at training but as the season has gone by we have dropped off alarmingly in these areas. When Josh A our best forward makes good metres we have won 6 games but when he has struggled to make any impact with his metres we have been well beaten. Our biggest issue is the forwards unable to match other teams but things get worse when our bench players come on except for Mikaele we lose any momentum completely. Our no 1 priority should be Cameron Welsh not Addo Carr. It is a shame Packer money couldnt be used this season to purchase Welsh.
No more 4 season contracts especially to older players. We need to purchase players that are specialist in their position not try and manufacture them into other positions to fill a weakness in the team.

Luke Garner is an attacking edge forward.
His style is to run lines off creative halves.
He did that off Brooks early on.
What's happened?

They moved Garner to the right hand side so he is no longer next to Brooks. Lucy is on the left hand side now and besides that Brooks is no longer a creative half. (Was he ever?)

Missing Twal and Musgrove for so long has hurt us. Both are some of our best for making post contact metres.

Forwards have always won matches and that will never change while it is not touch football. You need impact which we sadly lack

Cordner
Crighton
SBW
Liu
Butcher
Toupinua
Collins
Faaumasilli

Depressing.

if we want a 13 get after Billy Magoulias. quite ridiculous the fact that he can't get a run at the sharks. I like the idea of McIntyre developing there but Magoulias is in a different class.

also you'd expect Blore to do a pre-season on the right edge and unseat Garner, but we need another front row signing. Tamou, Welch or Ofahengaue is what we need.

I don't know ...try putting it up against the other 15 squads and see what you think then

I don't know how many times that pack had to fail for people to realise how crap it is.

15 times Gal

I agree McIntyre should be schooled as a lock, hits hard, good motor and can pass )due to being a former centre), just needs to brush up on that.

Agree - he has got a bit of Nathan Brown without the loose canon feel about him

Agree. I think it is bog average. There is no damaging edge runner or metre-eating prop there. those are pretty much the same players that struggle to get 100m per game. Not sure what will change.
