Who was the player who went off with a broken jaw?.

Seemed to be a bad one as well, I was on the opposite side of the field and it looked obviously broken.

Amazing eyesight. Some would even say superhuman...

Though I also thought I saw Packer standing on the sideline and he was at the All Stars lol

Maybe my eyesight is so good I could see all the way to Townsville.

Billy Stapleton

I thin he’s the son of Danny Stapleton, ex Balmain.

I was gonna ask that. Is he still on the board?

Know it was only a trial match, however I was a bit disappointed in MCK. I thought he could potentially make an awesome CC Captain and that yesterday would've been a perfect day to audition(or put his hand up) for it.

completely agree, he was underwhelming at best

watched the game back, this is what I've got.

Laurie and Stefano are ready for first grade and should be in the side come Round 1

Simpkin looks the goods but can't pass right to left, would still expect him there Round 1

Talau still has a lot of issues defensively. was reasonable in attack but if he's a long term centre he needs to be a far better defender

Hoffman is an absolute prospect

Madden still needs time

Liddle will start the season at 9

Tuki Simpkins will debut this year but is still probably another 12 months away from playing consistent first grade

**if Chee-Kam is anywhere near the side let alone starting we're in big trouble.**

Seyfarth looks an improved player, but also wasn't playing against grown men.

Tuilagi definitely worth keeping tabs on after a development year, will be one to watch for the Magpies this year.

Kiah Cooper absolutely deserves a permanent contract. Fitzgibbon will most likely get one too. Roberts-Davis no chance. Kepaoa should've played last night and started at the back. Rogers-Smith and Rodwell certainly deserve consideration. Docker-Clay surplus to requirements if Hastings does in fact turn up in 2021.

Know it was only a trial match, however I was a bit disappointed in MCK. I thought he could potentially make an awesome CC Captain and that yesterday would've been a perfect day to audition(or put his hand up) for it.

Agreed, he should've been a standout in that game but didn't shine at all really. Hopefully he goes better in next weeks trial but don't see him playing much first grade or any at all possibly

He packs his PlayStation when going to camp don’t think he is mentally tough enough.

Does anyone know why we didn’t just keep benji on a low money contract as backup? Do we just put it down to another standard poor management decision?

No, I put it down to management and coach knowing the game, knowing what we need and what we don't.

However, basically not wanting a geriatric selfish ball hog, who wants to run the team and is not capable of doing so.

Russell now that Marshall is gone do you see Brooks coming into his own ,and do you see the side in the eight at seasons end . Because in my view anything else is a fail

Goanna, I don't see anything else than t he 8 as a fail as anything can happen, multiple player injuries would not help the cause. If all things are equal I do think we can make the eight.

With Marshall gone I do see Brooks being more comfortable leading the team around, a better pack will also help. I do think if AD is the 5/8 then Brooks will have no excuse for being dominant. If Laurie or Madden are playing 5/8 I don't think he will go as well.

Well I agree as far as our spine and back line is concerned ..... yes .
We will struggle this year mostly because our halves, fullback and lock positions are lacking. That’s a lot of to be missing and then to be still confident that we are a top 8 contender.
So I’m realistic and see this year again as only a stepping stone to next season. And No I don’t necessarily believe that if we miss the 8 I’d be slashing my wrists.
I’ll be looking at solid improvements in defence and attack as a pass score.

Dunno if that has anything to do with it ? just don't think he's a talented enough player. Can do some good things but not consistent enough

The pleasing outcome was Tuki. We are short a good second rower and lock and he would do both very well I reckon.

I think he is going to be a very good lock in a couple of years.

Agree Lauren. I appreciate he's pulled a couple of fantastic plays to bag a game for us in years gone by but I just do not see where he fits in. If he is in our 17 we are thin IMO.

Chee Kam is a very interesting player.

The guy has been around for yonks, and even at the Tigers for a very long time. Seems well-liked amongst the players, but has always been a bit-part player.

He always looks like he's about to go another step in his career, but just never kicks on. He has a great turn-of-speed, and can be really useful off the bench... but his inconsistencies have always held him back.

Good for depth, nothing really more unfortunately.

I’ve said before, if he’s in our 17 regularly, we finish outside the top 8. Saw nothing last night to change that.
Only one game and many players blowing out cobwebs but my two most positive takes are:
1. Stefano could be massive for us starting Round 1 and
2. Tuki Simpkins has huuuuge potential
