2024 State of Origin Teams

First thing is to see which 2 are dropped from the initial squad. Unless unknown injuries/ suspensions I’m thinking Keary and MacInnes, but I’ve been wrong before !

Interesting that Edwards, Murray, Moses (barely) and Watson weren't available for the first origin. And obviously the other change was Sualii who's suspended. From all reports, seems like the first 4 would have been picked if available.

Madge is sticking to his guns it seems. He's happy to go down with this team but he's stuck to the people he trusts. I just wonder if he'd have picked Watson or McInnes originally. Have a feeling they both would have been in the team Game 1.

This will be a very low scoring game. I only see Moses as the only defensive liability in that team but he's really pulled his weight last couple of years.

8-6 one way or another...

I reckon Latrell will likely kick ass. I know he hasn't been in form always, but man I remember a few years ago how doninant he seemed in origin, I thought NSW will win for years. Was disappointed not to get more of that. I understand why he isn't loved by all, but I do feel he is made for this arena. I would have picked him. Feel Burton would be useful on the bench though can cover several positions.

I would play Latrell in Origin even if his club form is no good.
He has that extra piece that you need at this level…an arrogant arseholeness that says “you’re not going to beat me”.

Cobbo unlucky. He tore the Blues to pieces game 1.
Walsh is a risk…hasn’t played since May 26. Game 2 is June 26. Will he be a bit gun shy?
The pack need to play tighter. NSW won the forward battle in game 1.
I’d say NSW are favourites in Melbourne.

I like this NSW team a little better; there are some X factor threats in Luai, Trell and Critta. Moses kicking game will be good for us as long as he doesn't choke. On the other side of the house I think Cobbo being out is a bonus for NSW. I expect NSW to win game 2 and it will be a battle against the odds (for NSW) in game 3.

Yes, this NSW team is far stronger and more dangerous.
People get caught up on the scoreline from game 1. Despite the 2 x 15 minute stretches where QLD blew the Blues off the park (the first being during the chaos of restructuring the team on the fly straight after the sendoff, and the inevitable last 15 where NSW ran out of juice due to defending one short all game), the rest of the game was an arm wrestle that NSW arguably won.
With a full compliment of players bolstered by added strike and class, we will see a vastly different game from them.
This series will need the decider Id predict.

I think you are on the money, I took a fair bit out of game 1 despite the result. With the exception of Moses I think Madge has picked a side that is reliable and has enough x factor to also make the scoreboard tick over. I expect game 2 to be a big defensive effort from both teams. The difference will be the ability of Holmes, Hammer and Walsh to beat the defence with speed v the ability of Mitchell and Critta with power off the back of an unpredictable Luai. If Moses doesn't choke his kicking game could be the difference in the positional battle.
