2025 Assistant Coach Options

Last sacked coach who plenty were adamant - would drift off into oblivion due to his limitations after failing here - managed to secure coaching NZ, NSW to victory, and now front runner for coveted Broncos job.
Does my head in how we are a sack happy club but still can't retain/back who we should and then sit back and watch those same people we right off achieve stuff they can't do here.
Maguire is a high intensity burn-out coach. It works in rep footy but not in NRL with its long seasons. Maguire took Tigers from ninth to last, and screwed their one saving grace - bright attack.

SMH: The Tigers are also expected to make a call on a replacement assistant coach for Robbie Farah next week, with fellow premiership-winning teammate Brett Hodgson expected set to get the nod.
It really is a bit of an old boys club isn’t it? Sadly the only one of the old boys worth keeping on as a coach is coaching North Queensland now.

All us experts putting the knife in Hodgo before he starts here. Like we know what he brings to the table.

We have all said Benji should be surrounded by experience. Morris has it, obviously. Hodgo has experience in many facets as well.

Coaching is just as much about culture, fit & personality as it is ability.

What I would want is a coaching staff that makes Benji feel comfortable. The moment you bring in an assistant that is borderline 1st grade coach material, your head coach starts looking over his shoulder & not ahead.

I'd be adding more than Hodgo. Another coach with similar experience. Spread the workload. Give Benji as much experience to lean on without telling him how to do it.

I think the most important backroom staff are the strength & conditioning guys for this club. We play small.
If Benji is uncomfortable having someone experienced alongside him then he should just resign now and admit that coaching isn't for him. He's a completely novice coach, he needs someone with 10-20 years experience alongside him. Clear as day. It is the only way forward

Yes.... No point having someone with less. Experience than he does just so he feels 'comfy'

Silly idea

Hopefully that’s the old Tiger way.

Don't want annoying pests in a coaching role. It's one thing as a player (
Yep. Don't want winners here.
Even though he had to switch clubs numerous times because people get sick of him), but a whole other story when your a coach. You can't be an annoying pest in that role. He's been sacked from the one coaching gig he had not even completing his first year.

Yep sign that up to help Benji. Please

Well he didn't get sacked for being annoying. He's probably not coming anyway so you can relax.

Madge did NOT coach the WT to last spot, when he was sacked we were in 13th spot.It took the combined ability of Kimmorley and Sheens who abandoned him to get to last during the rest of the season which was 12 games

Do you know why he got sacked? I actually don't know the reason so this is a genuine question (hard to read tone in writing so I wanted to make it clear I'm not being a dick here lol)

Haha actually it was for drink driving. Low range.

I'm not helping my case am I?

Hahaha, certainly not.

Maloney would have been good when Brooks was here just to teach him to not care. That was his best strength, the ability to not let a mistake or outside pressure get to him.

They were heading for the spoon. The club saved Madge the indignity of the spoon and threw Kimmorley under the bus

Disagree.

Madge is a high intensity, simple game plan coach.

He didn't have a squad with any commitment or heart.

Wests Tigers didn't know how good he was.

Madge, Benji and Richo would be amazing
