Yeah consider this - instead of blaming Rankin.

Simona takes a tackle, quick play the ball, and Nofoaluma scores on the other side within two plays.

We had a few blokes there for that ball and the Bulldogs had no one.
Rankin should have caught it plain and simple.

The ball was above his head and he was running full speed CK

Watch it again and there was some pressure

Again it was a low percentage option , we need to stop trying to rely on low percentage lucky tries :brick:

3\. Taylor
2\. Grant
1\. SImona

Grant and Taylor are arguably 'the best' buys of the season, congratulations to all responsible

Happy - I'm not trying to be slack but I wonder if you even watch the game. It's like you have an idea in your head and no matter what happens that is what you are going to state.

Rankin bombed a sure try that Simona set-up.

The same could be said about you Steve. It was a low percentage option but it would have paid off had Rankin taken the ball. It wasn't an easy ball to take at full throttle but it was a ball he should be taking playing first grade as a fullback. He did well to put himself in a position to take it, but he stuffed it.

Honourable Mentions Seumanufagai Halatau Simona Sue Brooks Liddle Lovett…

Naughty Cnr Klien and bombed chances...Both in Execution and defense.. :smiling_imp:

Rankin didn't take the ball agreed , but next time your out in the back yard try and take a ball above your head at full speed with other people in your vicinity

As I said in another thread , of the three option available to Simona that would of been the last one I would have chosen , especially with the amount of tackles left in the set

The best option is to try and position another player in a better position , secondly take the tackle and get a fast play the ball and spread v a broken defensive line and the kick option was the absolute last option you'd take , so much can go wrong , you are trying to place a precise kick at full speed to another player at full speed needing the bounce to sit up perfectly and as it did the bounce wasn't great

But as you once stated your are a better game analyst and player than Sterling , so you'd know that

Ball was chest high .

I thought the ball was chest high and he kind of pushed at it. Anyway, it was a game changer. I reckon it was on. I think he could have positioned jac and given it to him, but happy with his decision. He created, the guys who obviously expected it didn't come up with the goods. Will have to look at it again to see how high it bounced, but won't change my thoughts. Should have scored in y opinion.

Spot on hobbo

That ball was definitely chest high and catchable, just watched it 5 times.

I think everyone is frustrated cause we should of won a game we were unexpected to win, i certainly gave us no hope.

We are definitely taking small steps to being a side that we will win more than lose, once we can purchase 3-4 quality 1st Graders watch out.
We still have a couple of players that aren't 1st Grade standard but you expect that with Salary Cap constraints.

This year is not dead and buried but we are not at the level of the Cowboys, Sharks, Bulldogs etc….

Looking forward to next year already.

Rankin bombed it simple…having said that Simona should have backed himself or taken the tackle...it was only play 3...

Happys just looking for an argument
Keefy Galloway would've gathered that ball in !!

We are slowly improving …
I too was expecting to getting a flogging .
They tried hard but ran out of gas and they had too many dumb plays .

Try catching a ball at chest height then at full speed when you've no idea how high it is going to bounce

Some idiots missing the whole bloody point

THE KICK WAS THE WORST OPTION OF THE THREE HE COULD OF CHOSEN

IF THE IDIOT CENTRE TAKES THE SMARTER OTHER OPTIONS WE DON"T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT !!!!!!!!!

And I have a tool in another thread arguing that Simona is a good centre , you have to be bloody kidding

You're initial argument was that the ball was over his head , it WASN'T !

It was a gift of a bounce , pretty much in the bread basket !
Put the Toad down

Happy has a point regarding the option Simona took…tackle 3 with the big fat Doggies blowing hard...we had plenty chasing tha kick...take the tackle we have them on toast..

People want the highlight reel plays though ..the play what's in front of them options...when it doesn't come off however dont waaaaaah about it...

We are talking about the ball that Rankin had to catch was chest height full stop and catchable, especially a Professional that gets paid as a Profession.

Nothing to do with any other options Simona may of have, that ball was catchable chest high as hobbo has said.

Spot on Hobbo, it may have been a low percentage option from Simona, but it worked, the ball was chest high and in the bread basket, Rankin fluffed it, if you were watching FOX Happy you would of heard the commentators mention the sitter try bombed.
No excuse from Rankin, a first grader would have taken that ball and we would have been 12 ahead, we probably win from there.

Did not see the game as I had a wedding on down the coast, but watching the highlights it was a sitter, but every player bombs a sitter at some stage and most of them escape any real barrage on this forum. Simona a few weeks ago all he had to do is fall on a ball over the line, JAC had the line wide open and dropped a ball with a few yards to run, anyway Rankin did drop a game changer but have a look at some very average defence that led to the dogs scoring six trys before focusing on a missed opportunity.
