..

That's all fair enough. My post was less about Brooks per se and more about why the current coaching staff, knowing his limitations, chose to start the season with him as the half, thus leading to the ongoing switcheroo situation that makes them look like amateurs.
This does not fill me with confidence in their ability going forward.
I wasn’t happy that we didn’t have our spine settled before preseason training, particularly given the coaching team’s track record of knowing who they don’t want in the squad.
We do look like we don’t have any answers and we compound the problem by making positional changes looking for combinations which may or may not work. We don’t seem to have the coaching ability, beyond Sheens’ skill at reminding players that they love the game.

Is it just me or after 60 years as a Tiger I’m going off the boil. I never, ever thought I’d say that.
It’s just one stuff up after another and our pleading falls on deaf ears.
Whether it’s the top, the middle or the bottom echolons of the club they just can’t get it right.
It all looks so simple to me, If the top is no good, replace them.
If the coaching situation requires an experienced, progressive coach, then recruit him.
If the bottom end is full of dead wood, then burn it !
I’m afraid common sense just doesn’t apply to
the Tigers. I’m burning out !!!

It's little solace but I think many feel like you atm.
It's like realising that even though she wants you around, that gf and you aren't going to work out.

My take is, we just seem to veer from one headfck to another year in and year out. Each pre season the spin doctors spruik how wonderful the coming season will be and then reality drops the big steaming pile of wests tigers on our heads. I can understand why some have written this season off already.
I'd really like to believe that Tungsten Tim can pull a rabbit out of his hat this weekend.

Quote "we have some good kids coming through "...
This often gets overlooked but it is a recurring theme at the WT - and just as recurring is the inability for these kids to come good...Let's face it, with the exception of Teddy, and Moses, it is not like we've unearth some youngsters that have gone to bigger and better things...Perhaps a different thread altogether this one.

Should never have let Madden go. Imo he was showing notable improvements with ea opportunity which unfortunately were few
The investment in his progression was a complete waste of money and spot.
What is the point in investing and cutting, I know plenty don't work out but Madden was showing improvements to the point it was noticeable that he was almost on par with our long term half back already.

we will always have 2010/2011. What a fun period of footy.

Ricky reckons Madge is doing great being away from the political turmoil 😝
It’s crazy to think that the friction and politics could be driven by club loyalties..1 Wests, 2 Tigers and 3 Wests Tigers.
Dragons are having a similar issue.
I hope the NRL don’t make this mistake again?

I cant see any more mergers happening. At best there would be clubs moving geographically but the joint venture model don't seem to end well. 3 options:

1. Get good.
2. Move.
3. Get Punted.

Ive got to say, this will be the last weekend I take an interest in WT side and the individual games if, after this weekend, Brooks and Doueihi continue to be selected in the first 13 / playing 17. The only caveat is they have stellar performances (not just adequate). It would just be a symbol that our coaching staff are pig headed and dont care about the team and the fans as much as justifying their egos.

I'll look out and engage when recruitment decisions are offered / made but this Brooks, Doueihi stubborness has/is killing my passion for the team. I always hope we can compete, not necessarily win but continually picking them when we (the fans) just know the result coming why should we bother week to week loosing our time?

The link between the forwards and the backs is obviously the halves and our reliance on Brooks to be part of that is killing us.

Our forwards are good this year and doing well and our backline I reckon isnt too bad- not flash but capable of doing more with timely and well positioned ballwork / kicks from the halves. If the coaching staff see a continued role for Brooks despite everything up to now, why the hell would any of the other players want to stay?

Im not at all against a move to Perth / Central Coast but as part of the consideration I stillwant to know what happens to our KOE / Juniors and local competition areas? If they still stay ours and accessible to the new entity location, fine, but if we loose them just to be picked over by Bulldogs, Penrith and Parra, no thanks

Location isn't the problem though. New owners are needed.

Watched Wigan vs Leigh last night (I'm based in London). Bevan French or Jai Field at fullback would be worth an enquiry tbh. Both doing well over here. Lachlan Lam aint up for it though.
Bevan French is like a good version of Laurie.
Watched the highlights - he was great.

Field has been good for the past 2 years now.
Both better than what we've currently got.

Going into 2023 the Tigers had Brooks and Doueihi off contract and made a decision to pursue Mitchell Moses. Ultimately that failed.

The club needed to put a deadline on the Moses decision to prevent 2023 being sideswiped by contract discussions about both our playmakers.

They recently extended Doueihi for a year and are now left trying to manufacture a fullback, and offload another failed project in Laurie.

Our HB is in career worst form and we are publicly looking at other options.

We now find ourselves in a very predictable position with another season on life support.

The Tigers clown show rolls on. Thanks to our masterful leaders 🤡💩
I rate Laurie as a fullback, am I seeing something wrong with him? Maybe he could play 5/8 at least something happens when he plays we can't blame the forwards anymore the tigers are in top 3 for being in opposition 20 and metres gained
