Hi there, I have possession of 70 years Collection of The Rugby League News / Big league magazines. Not the Rugby league Week magazine

My father Eric, 97 passed away in early February, was a big footy fan.

Since 1950, each week, of each season he bought the latest edition, until it stopped being published.

Each year is in it’s own folder and each week edition is in a plastic sleeve.

Does anybody know anyone who would be interested in buying these magazines/ this entire collection.

Thanks.

There must be a museum around somewhere. Andrew Voss would be familiar. I agree with @insaneink, try contacting the NRL. Or maybe even Voss himself. They might be able to provide a resolution and maybe even a spot on his show 'The Fan' (I assume that's still running). I would love to watch a Fan piece on your father's collection.

Forget the mags, sorry to hear about your Dad.
May he RIP.
I lost my mate ( Dad) in 2001 but still miss our footy discussions and games, especially Dragons v Tigers. He was a Dragons man from way back and was devestated when I fell in love with the Tigers..
Anyway, good luck with the sale.

Condolences for your dear Dad.

But WOW! He is representative of so many real footy fans who live and breathe our wonderful game.
You must have such great memories.
Take special care.

First of, 2001 will always seem like yesterday when we suffer loss of our loved ones.
Great football genes though.
But? Oh my!
A Saints supporter eh!?
What warm and spirited debates you have to reminisce.

My own Dad passed in 2003 and my football memories of/with him still stand with me each and every day. In fact, my yelling at the TV games and questioning referees' decisions make me think I'm turning into him.

I checked eBay and they have some value mate especially if they're in good condition. If you look at sold listings you can see what they sold for. You could sell them as a bundle but you'd get a lot more selling them individually.

Hey @westTAHger

So sorry to hear about your loss; I personally can't bear the thought, so condolences.

My dad is in his mid 70's, and I reckon he'd love them. But I'm in Perth and on top of the price they'd cost a mint to ship here! 😦

Best of luck.

Hey mate sorry about your loss.

You should reach out to Michael Adams at the Rugby League Digest podcast.

They are really big on rugby league history (that's their podcast) and Michael definitely references old league magazines as part of his research. He's some kind of archivist for his job.

Even if he doesn't need them, he might know someone who does, because he's involved in other rugby league history like the Tom Brock lectures.
