8th spot is there for the taking.

Lets be honest here with Parramatta making it a Top 9 this year the chance to make the finals has never been more there for the taking. 11 wins might even get you there, but more likely 12.

The way I'm reading it we need to finish ahead of St. George, Penrith and the Titans to make finals. This is even considering that the Warriors and Raiders make it ahead of us . Now that is something that we should be relishing in Saints, Penrith, Gold Coast - 3 pretty average sides that I think we have covered talent wise. There is no reason we cant finish above these sides.

The good news is we play all these 5 sides in the run in. We get to take 2 points off them if were good enough.

Its such a shame this week is spoilt by the dead rubber Origin which to me significently puts a dampener on our chances of building momentum at the right time of the year. If we beat the Dogs I would have confidently said were on track to make this Top 8\. However from 7-10 it will be a mountain to climb.

I think if by some miracle we beat the Doggies, I'd be pretty confident we'd make it into the 8 this year.

We aren't used to being disadvantaged at Origin time. Normally its our chance to play a team that's minus some stars.
With three key WTs players out.Playing against a very Strong side, we'll be doing it tough this week

i would think that we will need 30 points to be safe since or +/- is so poor we would probably miss out on 28points.so in essence we need 13 wins over the season. As others have already stated this week will be very tough without our SOO players

I think we shouldn't get discouraged if we lose to the Dogs. We are still a chance at getting into the finals if we lose. Looking at our run home:

Doggies (A)
Bye
Dragons (A)
Eels (A)
Cowboys (H)
Titans (H)
Panthers (A)
Warriors (A)
Raiders (H)

Out of all of these, we are the least chance of winning against the Doggies and Warriors in NZ given their form. The rest we are a decent chance of winning.

Lets keep the dream alive!

That loss to the Knights basically cost us 2 games….the win plus a significant boost to our for and against. Good sides have put a flogging on the Knights which is so important in the final competition for spots in the 8.
Looking at our draw we will be very lucky to scrape into the finals- we have some tough games ahead I think we will win half of our remaining games and finish 2 or 3 games outside the 8.
Would love to be wrong.

I love the enthusiasm of the forum members in regards to making the 8…however from my perspective,Iam very pleased that we have made significant improvements in areas of our game that we were lacking over the years, particularly our defense, this year we have performed much better than previously and I can see us progressing much further next year...I can still remember at the beginning of the year people saying we will be bottom 4 this year,we are much better than that and if we do make the 8 it is an added bonus..the significant changes that have gone on this year are noticeable and I do hope we can progress further up the ladder as the season draws to a close...

Credit must go to the new recruits, coaches and admin, all in all I think we are finally heading in the right direction to be a force in the NRL in years to come, especially if our young guns develope even further and we retain key players and recruit a couple of seasoned players in key positions that we need filling...and yes I do hope we can make the 8 this team does deserve to get there..

The Knights game and the Raiders flogging have really hurt us in regards to ladder position and +/-….

On the above I think if we win against the Doggies we can take that momentum and go on a real winning run…The only difficult game apart from the Dogs is the Cows...the rest we are in with a decent shot at winning...

I call it the Dory effect…Just keep winning just keep winning...the rest will take care of itself...

The timing of this game really sucks a fat one, because we've really turned a corner, and Farah has his mojo back coming off the bench, and the constant interruption of Origin is really hampering that. I'm confident we can win 4 or 5 after the bye with our run home. If we don't win those games then we don't deserve to be there tbh. The biggest hurdle will be overcoming that 6 game losing streak, which is what could eventually cost us. A period where we were playing Milone and Buchanan. It will be tough but I'm confident. Even if we win a few and finish 9th or 10th, it will be a great platform for 2017.

Eddie I like your optimism and a lot of what you say is on the money, but for us to make the eight we have to go on a winning streak and although this team can beat anyone on their day, they can also loose to anyone on their day. I just can not see them producing week in and week out for two months.

I hope they prove me wrong because if they can jag 50% ball or more they are a good football team and I hate to think what they could do if they switched on for 80 minutes

I sometimes think our 2005 winning charge clouds the minds of some supporters. Yes it is always possible it might happen again but highly unlikely

I am torn about our side. We have some great players and when they are on I feel that we can almost beat anyone.
I would love another crack at the Sharks - we had them and then we rolled over.
There is still that feeling that we can't protect a lead.
According to the Fox team apart from Newcastle we
leak more points per game than any other side - and while we defend well for parts of a each game we
rarely defend well for an entire game - it still is a big problem.
Still think we are short a couple of players - if we
remain injury free and play consistently, Moses goal
kicking is more on than off we are a chance. But we
have been in this position before when other teams
step up their campaign to make the finals and instead
of going with them we fall in a heap.
I know they have got it in them just not sure they can produce when they need to. Hope they prove me wrong.

We aren't used to talking about possible finals spot either at this stage… Not for some time anyway.
We managed to beat brissy on their turf without woods and Farah.... And we now and then can cause an upset against the dogs.
Hold the ball and a fair go for a change from ref's and we're right in it on sat imo

There are lots of winnable games coming up, but we need to win almost all of them. That is the dilemma we face…

We need to win all of them and by as many point as we can. We may lose a few but we should not take anyone lightly, nor give in.

For and Against are critical.

It all starts this week. Go you mighty Tigers!!!!
