Probably been reading some of the unwarranted crap written about him by fickle fans on here. Would be enough to make anyone unhappy.

Or realised what a jerk he has been to his teammates and that it would be hypcritical to now pretend her cares?

How has he been a jerk? Please enlighten me.

I consider telling the rest of your teammates that they arent good enough to play with to be jerkish.

Woods was locked in a debate with the coach in the tunnel at GIO Stadium after the 40-point loss to the Raiders on Sunday, trying to work a way out of the hole the team had dug itself in.

He didn't call for the coach's head. The faces on the players after the shellacking at the hands of the Raiders did that. In fact, Woods publicly backed the coach and admitted it was time the club's young players began living up to the hype in an interview with Fairfax Media on the eve of Taylor's sacking.

"Everyone says we have really good young blokes, but we need to start living up to that hype mate," Woods said on Sunday night.

"It doesn't matter who our coach is. The boys love JT, so we have to go out there and play our footy. He's not the one going out there and playing. We deserve all the crap we've been getting because it's simply not good enough. We haven't been getting beat by two or four points, we're getting flogged by 30 or 40\. It's not good enough.

"And we've scored one try in two weeks - that was from an intercept not a set play. We've lost our mojo in our attack because I think we're trying to score off every play. We need to play a bit more direct and straighter. Our halves have to learn how to control the game. It's not just our halves - it's the nine and the one too. We have to learn how to control a game and that's why we're a bit immature as a squad."

Those aren't the words of a man looking to leave. They are the words of a frustrated captain who has the Leichhardt postcode tattooed on his body.

Please tell me what is wrong with the above statements from Woods? Makes perfect sense to me and he includes himself in his comments as well. You blokes are seeing and believing things that just aren't there.

If he does leave, all that counts for nought, and we are proven right about him.

It's got nothing to do with whether you like or dislike Aaron Woods.
The intelligent line of thought is, is he value for money at 800-900k per season.
My answer is no he is not.

I agree woodsy may not be the leader we thought he'd be but he has always tried to put the club first. He's coped some grief in this thread due to the emotion around a possible descion at least let him say he is leaving before you crucify him.

Captaincy and leadership that comes with it are big issues for me, not so much his character and particularly my perceived lack of them off the field. Does he want the job and/or to stay?, if not hand the keys over and in a hurry at that.

Nowhere near it.

When did he say that?
If you are going to throw something like that out there you need to back it up.
Thats a low blow accusation especially if it is coming from someone who is dirty at him and is making assumptions. No better than the crap that is fabricated in the press.

Has anyone mentioned Taumololo's try where Woods put in that weak effort and then got used as a speed hump?
Kinda sums the guy up for me.
Effort is there some of the time, but it isn't wholehearted or entirely committed.
As a player he never hits the line with venom and is sluggish in defense. A very good prop no doubt, but overrated.
As far as his interviews go, he is the opposite of inspiring. Not captain material. To be honest it's a real turn off.
Thus, I'm not a fan of his on-field or off-field character.
Big meh for me.

If Taumololo is a million dollar per year player where do you think Woodsy rates. I really hope that club has a good look at his performances when assessing to retain the offer for him.

I say promote ET to Captain starting next home game

No room for tossers to lead our side if their heart is not in it

ET for captaincy asap!
Woods has really been getting on my nerves as of late. I don't think he has the qualities to be a captain just yet. He doesn't know to speak to media, answer questions properly. It really makes the team/club look poor.

"I spoke to Woodsy and he’s told me how tough it is. He said, mate, I don’t know how (you) went through it for 18 months, he’s had a month of it and it’s really been draining on him."

A month of what?.. Contact negotiations that rest on his decision alone, when the club is throwing everything at him to ensure he stays?

Woods would be a great loss, week in week out he leads the metres gained in the forward pack. 971 so far this year, the closest to him is Sue with 606\. Lot of talk about loyalty, how much loyalty was shown to Farah and Sironen? Understandable if they all left chasing the money, they all know they would be thrown under the bus if circumstances changed. Sad to see Moses leave, it would be terrible to see Tedesco and Woods also leave, but the way Taylor and the board conducted themselves last year was nothing short of disgraceful. How much is that going to affect their decision?

A coach being sacked, interim coach with speculation about new coach and accusations being thrown around that the players are running the club, media asking questions he cant answer, and again and again…... new coach, being approached by other clubs with offers he has to consider , and trying to focus on footy all the while with a percentage of your supporter base questioning yout loyalty.? Probably enough there to give him a few restless nights I would have thought. .

It's pretty hard to sort of sign a contract isn't it - hey.

Reckon it's about time we stop going on about how disfunctional the club is, all the negativity draining and boring.

Very little has been said about the positives, membership up, sponsorship up, a new coach with positivity, a roster that can compete.

Needs the fans to get behind them with enthusiasm and positivity and who knows how the year could finish up !.

What I'd give to see him ambushed on 360 tonight and be asked why as a captain and a leader has he strung the club along for so long. Surely someone has the guts to ask him don't they?

But if he said yes he's staying or or no he's leaving it would stop all the B/S it's so simple don't drag it out he is the one that's creating the problem
