People in general love loyalty, how often do you hear when a top notch player goes on the open market only to re sign with his original club, and people say " iam glad he stayed at club X". Than when a player is seen to be disloyal and sign elsewhere it generates a lot of negativity, but people get over that pretty quickly and move on, but if that player than attempts to justify his actions by dumping on his club, thats when things get ugly..as with Woods.
The media love it because it creates headlines and most players are either smart enough or have people in their corner smart enough to keep them away from being grilled by the media, but Woods sadly let the media take him for a ride. Although I think with Woods it is a two way street, he has used the media to build a cult figure type image over the years, that has generated him contracts way in excess of his real market value and the media have a headline on demand with Woods in their corner.
Sadly I will always remember him as the bloke who dumped on my team and nothing else
