AC/DC Theme song for the AFL 2013

Yep, spend an absolute bucket on acquiring the rights to one of the best known songs in the world…then put it as barely audible background music while people in different languages talk over it.

This is more idiotic than NRLs effort.

"Look how high he is!"

Most games I watch, I'm thinking, "Look at them chasing the ball around the ground like seagulls after a chip"

I don't mind the occasional game. Last years GF was pretty good. But gees they have some one-sided shit matches.

Yeah they were raving about it on radio saying it was so much better than the NRLs ( I hadnt seen AFL one but had seen NRL's) ….
I think ours is much much better, yeh acca dacca is good for this type of promo but I find it a bit far fetched theres a TV in a barber shop in Turkmenistan showing Pies v Demons while some blokes getting a shave
Yeh- theres ''nothing else like it on earth'' or whatever their catchcry is, but Im sure thers some very obscure sports plyed in outer mongolia and sierra leone as well

watching too much Borat.

The NRL ad and all its marketing is rubbish compared to the AFL. Always is, always will be.

The AFL ad has an idea in it. It is a great ad. Im like a lot of you when it comes to believing our game being better than AFL. But sadly the AFL marketing and their ideas is far superior than the NRL's any day of the week. Their product, is probably no more marketable than ours.

Wake up. You may not like the ad, call it what you want, but hundreds of thousands of people buy into it, which is a very large part of their very very very successful marketing campaign, that gets bums on seats and it works.

Look at the numbers. 40K+ fans to bottom of the ladder local derby. NRL can only dream of those numbers. Lucky to get it at rep games.

I didn't even realise there was music playing in the background of the AFL ad. Was too busy scoffing at how ridiculous the concept was. If AFL is able to win over any random person who sees it, anywhere in the world, why is it only popular in half of one country?

At least they're right about one thing - there's nothing else like it on earth.
Thank God for that. 😛ray:
Am I the only person who gets embarrassed that people around the world could think that rubbish was our best product?

I get more embarrassed that most people overseas think League and union are the same game.

Hehehe. Being unique isn't necessarily a good thing. Just ask the Elephant Man…

AFL, the only sport on the planet where you could remove the ball and it would take the players and fans several minutes to realise it's gone.

the best part is that the video is blocked to anyone in the usa and i would say nearly every other country.

who in their right mind makes an ad and then doesn't allow people to see it.

being one of the few that love both afl and nrl, these type of threads crack me up.

The AFL have never had an ad or marketing campaign that was/is anywhere near as popular as the Tina Turner "Simply The Best" one. That one blew anything before or since out of the water: both NRL and AFL.

Not quite true, Up There Cazaly was pretty good.

Yeah you are right LaT, I forgot about that one
None of the marketing campaigns have been any good for either code in the last 15 or so years IMO.
The AFL rehashing a song from over 30 years ago by a band that is as stale as a wino's breath is no better than the NRL this year serving up their Australian Idol film clip interspersed with a smidgen of actual RL footage. I have grave fears for the direction that the NRL is headed with their marketing/management of the code….as for the AFL I could not give a sh**
