My take is we signed BJ for 1.4
Other clubs want AD in the same position as BJ and I dare say he would be worth a lot less than Leilua.
We need a fullback but are essentially buying a utility with a market value of less than 1.4 over 3 years. Why should we even consider 1.5-1.8 mil, let alone a fourth year.

I do not think anyone knows for sure what has or has not happened with AD. From all that I have read of Madge, I doubt he has the same approach as Cleary when it comes valuing a player's worth. I very much doubt the Tigers' offer is along the lines of what you are suggesting. If AD has signed with us - which is a massive assumption and only based on the report from someone on the SS Forum - then I suspect it is more likely that he caved and accepted the best deal that the Tigers put on the table and preferred that deal than having to front up to training and playing under a coach who has said he will not have a starting spot. Alternatively, he may have accepted a revised and different deal with another Club - who knows. The only thing that appears to have some truth to it is that he has told his team mates that he is not playing at SS. Players do not do that unless they have accepted an offer elsewhere.

Douhei has signed with the Tigers with the deal finalised yesterday. Adam wanted to be assured of a starting spot and will get that at full back at the Tigers.

Gosh so lazy, it would take you 2 minutes to do the proper research - 190 cm and 101 kg. ET is far bigger than you might think, that means he's almost 6'3".

Anyway original point being (a) you could have looked up his stats and (b) is he really 180 cm because the interwebs says otherwise, anecdotal evidence aside.

I just think this guy is worth the risk. He would be on our books for less then what Mbye, Reynolds, packer are earning. He is young, has played finals football and is just what we need. If this was all over $100k, then I reckon we’ve stuffed up here.


I've said this before but the way to assess value isn't to make a comparison with things that definitely aren't good value. If I paid two grand for a bag of horse crap last week it doesn't make it a bargain if I pay $500 for one this week.

Honestly, if he wants to play fullback, we're the only club in the market for a fullback with money to spend. Obviously he doesn't feature into Melbourne's calculations if they are talking to us about Momo, he wants to apparently stay in Sydney so that rules out Canberra and Melbourne if he is even entertaining the idea of playing centre, so that leaves Easts and us.

We want someone to play fullback, Easts need a centre, and it's only for a year as Billy Smith will be back eventually, and all things considered Xerri will likely head there, so once again he's out in the cold.

Souths might be able to keep Doueihi this year, but I imagine when Latrell's contract goes up and Arrow arrives and takes up a chunk of the cap, all of a sudden they will need to be rid of him. All things point to us being the most reasonable destination. The club probably knows this and are not budging on taking on his whole contract.

I feel he will either sign with Easts or us. Easts places him in a position much the same as Souths in 2021. He won't be a first choice fullback or 5/8 with arguably the best in the game in both positions already at the club. Only reason why he'd go there would to be to attempt to win a premiership, a three year back-to-back has not been done since Parra 81-83.
