OFFICIAL Adam Doueihi #227

The best thing Doueihi can do would be to come back and apologize to Benji in front of the players if he still wants to stay at the club.

Let's be honest what other club wouldn't have concerns other his behaviour, telling the coach this is where I will be playing, would Bennett, Bellyache or Robbo put up with that.

If you are moved to another position to hopefully improve team performance, do what you're told it happens at other clubs regularly and this is where you find out if they are team players.

Gibberer that bloke....another that thinks hes important
The way he argued with Adel on that podcast … where one of the has done all his accreditations and career development in footy , and the other has never played a game in his life , as both opinions carry the same weight says all IMO. I can’t say Im a huge fan

I remember 2 young halves going on a run having a field day one year, and im convinced they did it because they didn't have a senior half with them. Both being young meant they just backed themselves, worked together and didn't sit back. Both were not as talented as Javon and Latu, but they did the job. Im talking about Mark Mclinden and Andrew McFadden for Canberra. I have always had the belief that there are benefits to having 2 young halves, especially if they are confident and super talented.
No mental scarring

This is pretty much backed up by comments made by Adel Hage who would have been here and around the playing group for 4 or 5 years.

Some people were shocked when he stated that he would let Adam Doueihi go because of his poor attitude.
For those that missed it, have a look from about the 44 minute mark onwards for the comment about Adam Doueihi.

Also some interesting comments from about the 40th minute regarding Samuela and an interest comment about his brother Manase that might surprise some.

What the heck, if you've got the time, just watch the lot.

The big issues he is struggling with at 7 in defence, decision making and his lateral movement, can be somewhat mitigated if he is defendingin the middle corridor.

I could have somewhat put up with that huge deficiency in his game if Adam brought more as an individual than he detracts from the team in attack, which he does spectacularly on occasions, but never enough to balance the ledger.

We don't know how long this most recent episode of pick me where and with the number that I want to play in issue has been around, but seemingly a while longer than just this week. Still, whilst Doueihi is carrying on like a toddler, I also blame Benji and the coaching staff nearly as much for not knowing better than to basically guarantee it last off-seaso. Especially so with Adam's history of petulance.

Objectively

AD has been under valued / under respected his entire career.

I dont support the refusal to play but he could have rocked up and played like garbage which others do.
I disagree, I think he's been very very over valued.

He has consistently been praised by the media and fans, but has done nothing at all for us.
He doesn't clutch games, he doesn't attract players, he doesn't make players around him better.

He is a mid tier player, that doesn't excel in any one role and refuses to be a team first player.

Even in terms of his pay - he's only been under paid for 1 or 2 seasons, in which it was justified because no other team wanted to take the risk on him, or rehab him because he had only played like 5 games in 2 years..

Regarding him not playing like garbage, I would argue he has been one of our worst for the past 2 months, and has made our attack look like reserve grade standard.

TO ALL WTForum MEMBERS:

While we are all disappointed, angry, upset, we must remember that we are discussing young men here. Actual people with feelings, who are coping with much more as players and staff, than we could possibly imagine as mere fans.

We need to be mindful of negative impacts on mental health of the players.

I guess, as a human, I am asking you to be kind. To not post on here like a keyboard warrior.

Would you say it to AD's face? Benji's? Luai's?

Would you be happy to have it said to you? Your kids? Grandkids? Partner?

Be kind.

A forum member last night stated that Doueihi had done more than enough to hold his position in the team. I cannot disagree with this and while I support Marshall as coach, I do find his selection at 13 puzzling especially with what I consider to be the added defensive workload and carrying a shoulder injury.
Benji was going to have Adam attacking at 13 and defending in the halves. Whether Luai or Douehi should have been the one to make way im not sure. Though Douhi has been the half while weve only scored 22 points in a month so its not like he has really deserved his spot.

I'm trying not to read any WT media right now (outside the forum) cos I want to have some mental balance in my life, but a thought. Benji might have suspected that Adam's style might mean we don't get to see the best of Javon, who is a second receiver and needs someone to pass to him. Luai did that (to his detrmient) with Galvin, and let Galvin play. And maybe AD's injury history, based on the fact he is playing injured, meant he might have been concerned about not being physically 100% to play in the middle. I don't know. Or Adam sees it as a broken promise about only being seen as a 7, which to be fair the club has publicly stated a few times this season. But the fact it is all public, again, is just so depressing.

I would suze . And have done plenty of times in the past and would have my behaviour called out , as well .
If you’re on this forum and you think it’s ok to refuse to play , because a coach has changed your position ….
Regardless of the luai stuff .
Then that mentality is why we will always come last or near last .
Ads reaction should have been . “ i don’t agree Benji can you explain why I’m the one moving and not luai . And when the obvious is said , whilst I don’t agree , I’m not gonna let it affect my performance , but when it doesn’t work I’m gonna be in here screaming I told you so !” ,
The only other acceptable response was “no worries coach let’s rip in and see what hat happens . I’ll shadow Javon all week and let him know as much as I can , but it sux to be moved just letting you know “.
Anything other response is loser talk . It destabilises , it invokes and invites envy and negative thoughts and ultimately it’s toxic to the playing group .
Outside of Benji saying STFu and do what your told there’s really zero justification .
Oh But Luai …… you know what I read when I see that ? His ice cream is bigger than mine … how come she got more soft drink in her glass … he always gets what he wants it’s not fair .
It’s petulant childish bullshit .
I’d say every single word with no problems .. Why ? Because it’s the truth … and if our leaders think like this Ala.. Twal and Seyfarth , well then they should go as well

Spot on. He is overrated, has always been treated with kid gloves, and is picked in positions he is not equipped to handle. He neither a 6,7 or 13.

Just one final thing on this ; there’s been heaps of legends asked to change positions coming through .
The biggest one I can think of is Reuben Wiki started on the wing . Ended up in the front row as one of the premier props . Literally changed position 4 times and excelled every single time he was asked to move. And is widely regarded as one of the most beloved teammates ever .

I saw that and thought it strange Adel suggested Manasse coud be a good leader at the club. Sure as a mentor to help keep the younger guys on track thrugh his life experience, but the guys just getting out of prison, im all for everyone having a 2nd chance, we all make mistakes. But to come in instantly as a leader i found that comment a bit strange. I thought leadership was earned through trust, sacrifice and dedication. How could he just arrive and be a leader.

Never forget Lockyer moving from worlds best fullback to 5/8. Imagine being the worlds best at something only to be told for the team we need to move you elsewhere. He did an amazing job at 5/8 as well. Truly one of the greats.
