Could this be Doueihi next destination

Happy to see him go. Some of you lovers should merry the guy.

Not a lover ...I'm just happy to have a one night stand after 8 dry years as a WT's supporter

I'm not sold , but if we aren't writing 2020 off , we need a few signings in key positions asap

And well get them .... but not on someone else’s terms.

Well we might not, but for me this is the point. That is the definition of integrity, applying your own terms, your own standards and values.

Do we want to do things on other people terms, to meet their agendas. I would liek Doueihi here, he seems a talented player and very versatile, but on our terms, not Souffs.

If the Tigers miss out on him becuase he cant meet our terms. Im OK with that.

If we win a wooden spoon and still have our integrity .....

You dont think they can do two things at once? We cant sign players on our terms? We cant win AND have integrity? What a miserable world that would be.

Then you question our pride and our future ....many words mean much to many .....what's more important

Where the hell did I question anyones pride or future?

I meant all fans will question our pride and future .....is finishing 16th and having your integrity intact more important than our pride going down the drain by finishing last

Why are you so damn negative about everything lately? I don't get it. Have a little faith in this re-build. It's obviously happening in a completely different way to previous years. We might come last - but we just might be a whole lot more competitive than last year. It's gonna be an awfully long season if you've given up already.

I was simply asking a question Rusty

Is pride more important than integrity

But yes , I'm not sure if this club can cope and keep whatever respect we have if we suffered a bottom 3 finish

With our current roster it is a distinct possibility

It wasn't that long ago that Parramatta won the wooden spoon two years in a row. Now they are one of the favourites to win the premiership.

They are? Still seriously lacking in the spine IMO.

IMO AD is very much like a Connor Watson type signing. By that I mean Watson was a very good utility player in a very good system at the Chooks, when he went on the market he attracted offers probably way over what he was worth and went to the Knights and struggled for most of the year.

AD is a very handy player but you can’t pay him the money Souths are paying and you can’t offer him four years. We need a game breaker with speed, till one comes available I would upgrade from within

Douehi will be a very special player imo...... we will regret not getting him

Smart words by a man who doesnt sugar coat stuff.

I think he will make good in the halves. Problem is we have so much (bad) money invested around the halves with Mbye and Reynolds on a fortune.

I don't mind is signing him, but I can understand baulking at the whole freight for him. If Souths don't want to come to the party let them sink.

The Doueihi deal is skewed by the ridiculous contract that Souths gave him. If he weren't already getting $600K for 2021 under that deal I don't imagine many would be saying that we should be paying $600K for him for 2021, or that he would have any right to demand that sort of salary. Those being critical of the club not just leaping in and taking on that salary should consider what kind of salary they thought he was on or would have justified before that $600K figure came out. I seriously doubt anyone would have thought he was contracted for anything more than $400K at the absolute most.

Agree 100% but the flip side is that if it wasnt for that ridiculous contract, h wouldnt be potentially available now.

There has to be a reason he is on such a ridiculous contract, they must have been biddig against someone. Roosters I wonder?

Depends on the timing of the deal ...if it was just post GI's retirement and not having a viable option for the future it could make sense

They have LM now .....paying 600 k for a now benchie is ridiculous

Same as Paperhuyzen ....we never would have let him go if we knew Tedesco was going

Timing timing timing folks

Then why wasn’t paps picked up start of 2019 when storm were offering him to everyone , can’t keep using that Tedesco excuse

And then you've have to ask this question in the same sentence ...what made the best coach in the last 15 years change his mind .......

Surly lichaa would be a good money ball signing? 1 year contract, club option for another year?

The experts on here would disagree.

Meanwhile we run out with a part time center in our spine at 9.

I honestly think Simpkin will be ready to go for rd1, if not rd1, then certainly by rd10, he is our future 9

He isnt even in the top 30...

He can be promoted to the top 30...

We did not have the cap space and tried to get DWZ instead with off loading of players

Kasino went to ESL...so the could then fit Cammy in....and keep Papenhuyzen..

The bigger question is why the best coach had him behind Hughes n Drinkwater in the 1st place..

Lack of cap space most likely governing any potential play for him at that point, if the coach was interested at all.

IT’S official. Newcastle have confirmed the signing of Kalyn Ponga from 2018 but they are refusing to give up hope of snaring him for next season.

The Knights released a statement on Monday, stating Ponga has signed a four-year-deal starting next year.

The 18-year-old remains contracted to North Queensland for 2017 but Knights CEO Matt Gidley hasn’t ruled out welcoming him to the Hunter next season.

“As it stands, we are excited about Kalyn joining us in 2018,” Gidley said.

“Should the Cowboys decide to release Kalyn before the conclusion of his contract, we would certainly welcome him to the club at an earlier date.”

The rich contract is worth around $600,000-a-year and includes representative bonuses which would see the teen earn well over $3 million when activated.

A talented fullback, Ponga has played two NRL matches to date, both in the 2016 finals series with the Cowboys.

“There is no doubt Kalyn is a very talented and exciting young player and his signing is definitely a coup for the club,” coach Nathan Brown said.

“We look forward to further developing his talent and welcoming his family to Newcastle.”
