Mainly because in 2002/3 he was kissed on the arse when the likes of Fulton, Gibbs, Skandalis, Farah, Marshall.. all came through together and lived of that for the next 15 years...

Cue media article of how ineptly we are run as a club compared to the Roosters.

No problem with the appointment of Macca..was responsible for identifying young talent Tedesco, Moses & Benji. Our downfall was not keeping them. Keep the faith & go the mighty Tigers!!!!

Interesting examples of "identifying young talent".

Agree with Benji, brought through the Keebra system which apparently McDonnell was involved with.

Tedesco is born in Ryde to a family that has sponsored Balmain for decades and moved to Narellan, played for Camden Rams and went to St Gregs, played Wests juniors since 15. Hardly "identified or found".

Moses was a Tigers junior, born in Ryde and played for Holy Cross & Carlingford but rather than being "identified or found" was allowed to be poached by Parra but Parra cut him and we signed him after Harold Matts.

Genuinely dont see any incredible work here.

I mean how could they replace Hartigan.

Look this is the guy who helped us recruit
Latrell Mitchell
Josh Ado Carr
Tevita Pangai Jnr
Dale Finucane

I mean a head of footy who lead those brilliant recruiting wins and we are getting rid of him. Shambles

I'm indifferent to Hartigan going mate. It's the way the club goes about these things that I am highlighting. That's what makes us a shambles. This is why players don't want to come here, and the ones that do, as soon as a better club gets a sniff of them, they are gone.

If they knew Sheens was coming back to be DoF, just march Hartigan. Why leave it to stink out? McDonnell has been let go by this club twice already and we're bringing him back again?

There's no sense in it. They are absolute novices at an organisational level. Meanwhile Lee will get on 1170 and tell everyone with a straight face that we are a destination club.

I get that, and although none of us know the details, it is unarguable that we missed them.

Alternative thought is our best players this year included Stef, Laurie, Blore (pushing it I admit), Doueihi (Hartigan?)

I'm being completely serious ...can someone from the NRL give the WT's 3 years to stop this crap or the WT's are gone

This club is beyond embarassing .....

How about you just go and let the rest of us get on with it?

What position does Hartigan play?…..couldn’t careless he is going, as long as Sheens turns the club around in his 3 years….

Wests Tigers have today confirmed that the club has parted ways with General Manager – Football Adam Hartigan, effective immediately.

Since joining the club midway through the 2019 season, Hartigan has played a key role in the recruitment and retention of a number of players to the club while also strengthening the Wests Tigers junior pathways network.

Tim Sheens will assume the role of Director of Football, effective immediately, with the club to confirm its new-look football department next week.

Wests Tigers would like to thank Hartigan for his efforts while at the club and wish him all the best in the future.

And they couldn’t even use his first name in the last paragraph.. we’re an absolute meme of a club. Very unprofessional

Well I wasn’t going to say anything until it became official but having been lucky enough to meet Adam Hartigan and listen to him explaining his process for roster development I find this move quite perplexing. Especially as he seems to have been replaced by McDonnell who did little here twice then even less at the bulldogs as I recall. I continue to trust the club and I openly recognise that I am not privy to what happens day to day at WestsTigers but this one is baffling

It's a strange one. I don't know the ins and outs of the power-brokering within Tigers, but what does surprise me is that everyone was banging on about needing change and how bad the recruitment has been; we are seeing some serious shake-ups of football operations (as requested by many) and now the fans are upset with those choices.

Everyone sneered when they removed the assistant coaches, but now they've speared someone senior, the fanbase is upset.

So if you are a person that bemoaned the lack of signing ability of Tigers the past 2 years, and the decisions made on price and releases - Adam Hartigan is bang in the middle of those decisions (possibly even the majority owner of those decisions). You can't both say "recruitment sucks" and "hey leave Adam Hartigan alone".

Maybe the rumour about Tigers handling some contract negotiations poorly / unprofessionally is true and Hartigan hold responsibility.

I think once Madge was kept on, it was danger-stations for the rest of Football Ops.

I'm also not clear on the long-term dislike for Warren McDonnell, being a detail-oriented fan for many decades, I don't really recall what he specifically did wrong. I think he was just around long enough that he developed a bit of that "Tigers stink" about him, like Justin Pascoe, and people just wanted to see the back of him.

Personally I found Adam Hartigan to be an intelligent and clearly-spoken person, met him a bunch of times, but I cannot offer any more insight than that - he always had his poker face on.

The whole Sheens thing has been puzzling.
While I am fine with the appointment of Sheens the fact the club dithered for months without a definitive plan to utilise him is in itself a microcosm of how we perform on the field as a club.
Struggling with direction and purpose.
Now the appointment loses us Hartigan whom has been a rare bright spot for the club in the past couple of years - even more perplexing as Hartigan ran the review with Pascoe.
McDonnell’s appointment makes me laugh.
What did Jack Gibson say?
