Adam Hartigan

Seems like Sheens doesn't have an issue with people being run out of the club when he benefits from it, huh?

Have to trim the fat with a huge pay packet !

Well I wasn’t going to say anything until it became official but having been lucky enough to meet Adam Hartigan and listen to him explaining his process for roster development I find this move quite perplexing.

Didn't they always say that Jason Taylor presented very well, as well? Both to the Board and at fan engagements. I think that's the genuine problem here, nobody really knows how good these folks are or how well they collaborate.

Wests Tigers have today confirmed that the club has parted ways with General Manager – Football Adam Hartigan, effective immediately.

Since joining the club midway through the 2019 season, Hartigan has played a key role in the recruitment and retention of a number of players to the club while also strengthening the Wests Tigers junior pathways network.

Tim Sheens will assume the role of Director of Football, effective immediately, with the club to confirm its new-look football department next week.

Wests Tigers would like to thank Hartigan for his efforts while at the club and wish him all the best in the future.

lol that is a pretty weak announcement..

And they couldn’t even use his first name in the last paragraph.. we’re an absolute meme of a club. Very unprofessional

It is correct use of the English language. Full name in first reference, surname only in subsequent references. Nothing unprofessional about it.

Surprised at first that our old friend Sheens was so ruthless, but on reflection AH was in charge of recruitment - which has been a failure, he clashed with Madge, co-led a poorly received end of season review and holds a position that overlaps with Tim’s.
It’s a no brainer to get rid of him.

It's a strange one. I don't know the ins and outs of the power-brokering within Tigers, but what does surprise me is that everyone was banging on about needing change and how bad the recruitment has been; we are seeing some serious shake-ups of football operations (as requested by many) and now the fans are upset with those choices.

Everyone sneered when they removed the assistant coaches, but now they've speared someone senior, the fanbase is upset.

So if you are a person that bemoaned the lack of signing ability of Tigers the past 2 years, and the decisions made on price and releases - Adam Hartigan is bang in the middle of those decisions (possibly even the majority owner of those decisions). You can't both say "recruitment sucks" and "hey leave Adam Hartigan alone".

Maybe the rumour about Tigers handling some contract negotiations poorly / unprofessionally is true and Hartigan hold responsibility.

I think once Madge was kept on, it was danger-stations for the rest of Football Ops.

I'm also not clear on the long-term dislike for Warren McDonnell, being a detail-oriented fan for many decades, I don't really recall what he specifically did wrong. I think he was just around long enough that he developed a bit of that "Tigers stink" about him, like Justin Pascoe, and people just wanted to see the back of him.

Personally I found Adam Hartigan to be an intelligent and clearly-spoken person, met him a bunch of times, but I cannot offer any more insight than that - he always had his poker face on.

You make a lot of sense as usual.

My memory of McDonnell was that we were successful in NYC and reserves. We had sides to support through the finals and GF day. Plenty of players to be excited about. Not all of them made it, but there were the Fafita's, Dwyer, Groat, Woods, Akaoula, Sue, Mullaney, Simona, the workhorse lock with the curly hair, Lazarus, Nathan Brown. We made a hash of the first grade side when we let Heighno, Fafita and gave too much control to Benji and Robbie. Hardly a massive indictment on McDonnell, especially in the juniors realm.

so everyone is being shown the door, except for Madge, well the pressure on him is going to be huge when season starts or is he not accountable like everyone else

Pascoe is still here.

No problem with the appointment of Macca..was responsible for identifying young talent Tedesco, Moses & Benji. Our downfall was not keeping them. Keep the faith & go the mighty Tigers!!!!

Interesting examples of "identifying young talent".

Agree with Benji, brought through the Keebra system which apparently McDonnell was involved with.

Tedesco is born in Ryde to a family that has sponsored Balmain for decades and moved to Narellan, played for Camden Rams and went to St Gregs, played Wests juniors since 15. Hardly "identified or found".

Moses was a Tigers junior, born in Ryde and played for Holy Cross & Carlingford but rather than being "identified or found" was allowed to be poached by Parra but Parra cut him and we signed him after Harold Matts.

Genuinely dont see any incredible work here.

Wasn't Tedesco and his family, always roosters fans?
I'm sure that's a narrative that has been pushed before.

He and his Dad are/were Roosters fans, all his Uncles and extended family (italian/maltese) are Balmain/Tigers fans.

Knew there was some media spin when he signed saying it was his dream to play for the roosters or something.

Ive told this story many times here. I was talking to his Uncle (Balmain sponsor) about Teddy before he had debuted in first grade and there was a lot of speculation about him leaving and he hadnt signed a Contract with us yet. I was asking his Uncle whether he was going to sign and he told me then that Teddy had no loyalty to the club and wanted to be a Rooster. At the time basically he was going to stay only because it was the "right thing" after his early injuries.

I'm being completely serious ...can someone from the NRL give the WT's 3 years to stop this crap or the WT's are gone

This club is beyond embarassing .....

I really don't know what to make of this action. I just hope Sheens knows what he is doing.

Judging by Sheens record in the last few few years before he was booted i am now highly concerned about where he is taking us.With Macca coming back as well nepotism and poor judgement seems the most likely future over the next few years.I am sure Roycie is putting the witches hats in the back of the ute getting ready for his triumphant return.

The COE is getting re-modelled for a flying fox as we speak..

And a new paint job, didn't like the original.

Look this is the guy who helped us recruit
Latrell Mitchell
Josh Ado Carr
Tevita Pangai Jnr
Dale Finucane

I mean a head of footy who lead those brilliant recruiting wins and we are getting rid of him. Shambles

Oh no, what will we do without Hartigan! He was building an empire at the Tigers!
